My son Zach is holding a bubble created with a product called "Catch a Bubble" (about $2 a tube at Wal Mart or you can get it at zooscape.com) which creates bubbles that you can touch without popping 'em. This is the same product I used for my Fragile image.

Lit by 1 Alien Bee B400 with a brolly box on the front. Black velvet background.

Cool capture! Great expression and subject matter. The dark shadowing works well.

Wonderful lighting, love the way the catchlights in the eyes are mirrored by the bubble.

A disappointing result. Your concept and execution were both stunning, and I had it pegged for the blue.

Good idea, "sticked fragility". Like the lights. Sticks are not holded in proper way (I mean for eating :) Like it.

"Beginna Luck" - Mr. Myagi. Seriously, I really like this image. Nice clarity, and lighting. I like the play of the shadows obscuring part of the face and the clothes blending into the background. The composition is good but I would've preferred that most of the focus be on the chopsticks holding the bubble, instead of the model's face. Right now the bubble seems incidental instead of central. There is some soft focus on the arm that is a bit distracting and I'd like for the entire chopstick to be in the image instead of cut off at the end. Overall I gave a 6.

You shot wisely, grasshopper. I'm guessing we'll have an April ribbon in September. ;-) 10

Hey! Didn't have time to vote on this challenge, but I'd still like to say GREAT picture. Nice idea. The boy has great eyes and great expression.

FWIW, Zen masters typically use their chopsticks closer to the other end as a demonstration of control, but your technique isn't bad :).

There is actually a whole set of superstitions about where you hold the chopsticks comfortably. They are pretty typically nonsense, but one says that the closer you hold to the end, the older you will be when you marry!

very good. the composion is good, and so is the light.
I can think of another comp for this that I think is better, but explaining it is too long.
Ok, since you ask: have the bubble higher, roughly on level with eyes, about on the intersection on the lines of thrirds, with 2 diagonal lines pointing to it (chopstick and arm) from the far lower corner. /8

This is the winner. The eyes are striking and the subject is wonderful. My only problem is his skin, but we can't change that in this challenge.

Wonderful! Love the lighting on the subject. The background is complementary to the image and makes the subject pop off of the screen. Not to mention the expression and the pose of the subject as he holds a tiny delicate bubble between those chopsticks. Great job!

Aha, I'm entertained by this one. The reflection on the bubble seems a bit strange, almost if I'm looking at your light source, which appears to be a lamp.
I like the idea though, and that black background with you fading into makes it all that mor enigmatic. It explains the chopstick talent. ;) 9
