Both of my daughters study the ballet. This year they will be dancing with point shoes. This was a very difficult shot to obtain. My youngest daughter sat up in the rafters of our trellis, while the oldest daughter floated bubbles by her hanging feet. I simply waited for the right bubble to happen by and shot it at an angle that would make it appear that both bubble and shoes are very high in the sky. The difficulty with the shot was waiting for the right bubble to float to the correct location near the hanging shoes. We got lucky ...

I like this shot, hope it does well

Stepping lightly, huh? This would have been even more effective as a portrait orientation, imho, but it's very impressive as it is.

Oh my -- the focus is crisp and clear the colors are vivid and the bubble well...it's a bit mis-shaped, but bubbles have a life of their own and don't pose well for the camera (lol). Great creativity and think it is a lovely shot. Nice Job --7--

Very interested in finding out how managed to get this without it popping. I like the idea behind the image, love the composition. Lighting is great. I wish the focus was a bit sharper on the bubble as it is wonderfully sharp on the shoes. Since the bubble is such a HUGE part of this image, the softer focus is fairly distracting. Not sure if you used a polarizer or not, but the blue of the sky looks like it could use just a smidge of depth and create a bit more contrast to the pink/peach of the shoes. Over all though its a wonderfully creative image. I gave a 6.

one of my 3 favorites in the challenge. you certainly captured the light airy feeling of a ballerina's dance. I assume this is upside down?

Points for a good concept, the message is really clear in this.
"Dances lighter then air"
I think if you moved it over and broke the space up a little more assymetrical, it would be even strogner IMHO

Well I have to say that this is a rather unusual and interesting shot. With just the view of the ballet dancer's shoes appearing to be balanced upon this delicate bubble it instantly invokes the idea of the dancer having to ber dainty and delicate as the bubble -otherwise it would pop.

I have been trying to figure out how you managed this capture and the closest I could figure is that you had your model dangle her feet over a deck and then had to try, try, and try again to get the bubble perfectly positioned for the shot. Persistence paid off.

The only critique I have is that the photo may have been stronger if you could have captured more fluffy white clouds surrounding/framing the dancer's feet so that we have an stronger connection to the phrase "dancing on cloud nine". But I know that Mother Nature is not an easy model to work with:-)
