Well with all the comments maybe I should explain. I started off by drilling holes in the bottom of each bulb and removed the resin/center electrode, which in this bulb led to a small chamber that has a tiny hole leading into the bulb itself. I filled the small chamber and shook the bulb to get the liquid into the main bulb. It took about 30 mins to fill each one. The good part of this is the liquid wasn't easy to get back out, and I could lay them down or stand them up without leaking. As many comments predicted, this was done on a mirror, lit by a pair of 500w halogen lamps difused with normal paper. The main problems faced were reflections off the bulbs and mirror, and the "crud" in the bulbs from drilling which seemed to be magnified by the bulb like a lens. Overall I'm very happy with this shot, and I learned alot, but still have so much to learn.

Is that liquid in there?! I really, really want to know how you did that. COOL. Nice and sharp, nice clean background, and very bold color. Very nice.

Really do like this mage, I like the composition and the colours here. Its also something different and quite fun to look at. One or two of the highlights are a little blown out on the top edge of the red bulb but it must have been tricky to light so I reckon you got the exposure spot on really. Good luck with this one

A polarizer might have cut down on some of the glare and a couple of your edges seem blown out. Wonderful idea though. Makes me think of christmas with the colors and the lights. I love the reflection of the filaments.

Interesting idea, composition, and objects. It appears as if the light bulbs are filled with colored liquid. Not to sure that the white background works with giving the colors a warm tone. The white seems to stark and contrasts a little too much for my taste with the bold colors of the red and green. Mayhap a dark background like black would have better suited the subjects not to mention strenthen the imagery that the lightbulbs are to bring light up a dark space.

I like this alot. My only critique would be to allow more negative space so that they aren't so dead center in the shot. Good light and clarity. 8
