Who are "they"? What were YOU looking for? I'm guessing that you felt this didn't meet the challenge as a Personification? In what way? I'm not trying to be spiteful, just trying to encourange something a little more tangible. Sounds like you are commenting based on what others think you should say and not what you think personally. ;^)

Simile defined: A figure of speech in which two essentially unlike things are explicitly compared, usually by means of like or as, ...

To say this is a simile was reaching a bit and putting extra words out there that didn't exist, IMO. ;^)

Quite honestly, 'stubborn as a nail' never crossed my mind. 'Bent out of shape' did. Stubborn in this case (single word) was meant to portray the human trait of stubbornness (or creating a personification) in that the nail was being stubborn - not wanting to go into the wood - resisting...

Edit - In looking back on my comment it seems a bit harsh - I did not mean it to be quite so. I do get the feel of the pic and it is a good shot.

I keep coming back to this shot and bumping it higher!

nice image, however without the title it does not really convey the notion of stubborness. Perhaps a different angle, and DOF could do the trick.

You got the concept across, but I think focusing more on the bend in the nail rather than the head of the nail would strengthen the idea.

"Stubborn" is the perfect title and makes this one of the best entries for this challenge theme. I love the composition as well and the focus on the nail head.

ncie DOF - a bit of added sharpness on the nail's head would make the impact even stronger.

I think the limited DOF works in this picture. The use of personification is excellent and what I imagined the challenge was really trying to get at. The busy background helps the picture be more interesting vs. having no refuse. The clarity of the nailhead keeps it from getting lost in the clutter. 8

A wonderfuly captured human trait. The addition of the wood shaving helps illustrate your good DoF selection. One of my favorites.

Looks like a emotive stock photo. Hit the nail on the head with this one.

think "bent out of shape" may have been a better title, but that is only my opinion
