Bumping this up. I keep coming back to it, trying to figure out what's wrong! - The lighting and composition are fine. Focus isn't great on the girl, but that's a minor point. I think what it is is that the boy looks like he doesn't want to be there.

Unfortunately, brother doesn't seem to be celebrating his sister's affection. Too bad he isn't smiling too....or is he afraid she's about to choke him? (only kidding!) I like the composition and solid black background.

I love this - it's going to get a 9 from me. I relaly like the playfulness and the expression on the boy's face. One little tidbit I picked up in photography school I thought I'd pass along... for portraits... always try to focus in on the eye of the subject (if you can and your subject isn't moving too much). You should ideally try to see every detail of the eyelash. The focusing on this seems to be on the hands. It may have been what you intended, but the eye of the viewer always starts at the eyes. Anyway, thought I'd pass it along (it's something I didn't know till I started school). this image is amazing. I hope you do well on this challenge.

this is a cute photo with great lighting! cropping the shot at the level of the boy's collarbone might have made it even more amusing, since it would emphasize the girl clutching his neck. i'm not sure, however, that the boy is really 'celebrating'. still, very nice work!

the eyes don't appear sharp. Perhaps slight movement. Nice moment, though.

This is such a wonderfully touching image, though I would say it speaks more of their sibling relationship (with two very different moods here) than of "celebration". The comp is good, though a little unbalanced. Would have been nice to include a little more of the girl's head and hair but it's not a major problem. A little faster shutter speed might have helped to avoid the slight blur that's noticable on both their faces. Looks like you are working with a controlled lighting setup, so a little more practice will go a long way in getting the right shutter/aperture combination.

Very nice portrait ... the two expressions provide a lovely contrast in approaches to celebration of the familial relationship: she unselfconscious & abandoned; he formal & reserved. His eyes are terrific, too. Super lighting and processing. 8.

This is nice and sweet. Too bad she's a bit out of focus. I'll give it a 7 anyway :)

Kind of looks like she's about to choke him. LOL He's not too sure about her intentions either. Very cute.
