Congratulations on your top ten finish with this beautiful picture! I've been reading (and reacting to) the thread about the Pride top 10, and I wanted to say that this picture very much does say "Pride" to me, and the title emphasizes it. I've seen that same expression in my kids' faces when they are proud of something or another. It's like, "I did it! YES!!!!".

Anyway. Congratulations again. Your pictures are beautiful to look at.

Looking at this picture again. You know what I really like about it? The tones.

Hell, people, I even entered "what?" instead of "reflections" just to spare y'all "yet another spectacular sky reflected in the marsh" shot... Sometimes I wonder if people have ever really LOOKED at my full range of challenge entries. It's just that my BEST pictures are almost always scenics, 'cuz that's what I do, ya know? Those are the ones that sell, too.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. To those who question whether this depicts "pride", all I can say is that when I saw this shot (from the clambake, not shot for the challenge at all) I said to myself "Damn, she looks proud of herself!" so I entered it. And, for those who asked, she'd just won an impromptu race to the water and back the kids had organized up.

What no water shots? Great job Robert :) Let me just say that this was totally unexpected of you :)

wow, who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks? :-)

its a very different subject matter from the typical bear shot and the post processing with the subdued colors (which looks awesome btw, almost like something that might have come from our icelandic contigency) is another big change as well.

congrats on the top 10 and keep up the great work!

This is a really impressive image. Looking at it in thumb-nail I thought, oh-yeh, another kid-shot. However, when it came up in full I was really impressed. The movement, the colour and focus all work to provide a vivid image that captures pride very well. Thanks

Really like the composition, the hair, colors, smile. only problem seems to be the eyes which are looking just off camera? or is that an illusion because the right is squinting.... anyways, I really like this.

Adorable little girl, photo is technically impressive and you show a mastery of your craft, but what did she win and how do i know it?

(perhaps outside the rules, but I might see if I could tweak the color in her eyes)

Oh this is wonderful. I like the smooth complexion (neat image?) Her hair in the wind and her cute smile is really nice. It doesn't feel posed at all. Nicely done.
