Taken as a follow-up to the Going Grunge series. Self portrait.

This image means a lot to me on a lot of levels, but hopefully it's strong enough to stand on its own merit.

EDIT: Winner in the 2005 Nancie Mattice Awards at Dangenart Gallery.

EDIT: Honorable Mention in the Self-Portrait category of the 2006 IPA competition.

Awesome.

One of the things that I enjoy most about your portfolio is that, for the most part, you have commentary on most of the images. I love looking at people's work, but the stories, comments, PP steps add SO much to the enjoyment of the work. Thanks for being so very willing to share not only how you process some of your work, but for sharing your life, your thoughts and your feelings.

Thanks for adding so much to dpc.

Once again, just incredible editing and awesome SP. You can get a full story out of those eyes, and the expression. Powerful shot.

Was just thinking...a triptych (sp?) with this shot in the center and the recent SP shot (Inner child) on one side and Blue in the face or Cheese on the other...the three sides of Jimmy.

I seem to come a crossed this photo often. Even though it’s raw and eerie to me it’s one of the photos that come immediately to mind when I think of DPC.

lovely pic indeed. very emotive, yet understated. the emotion isn't obvious or cheap, but restrained, and all the more powerful for it. i'm not entirely sure about the 'graininess' i tend to look at it a bit more than hte actual image, but that's the only quibble.

super work!

i love this photo. the color tones work well, and i like what the grain is doing to your eyes. there's a fragility conveyed in this image that's really appealing, and a great contrast to that urban grunge thing going on. no criticisms here, it works for me.

Really like this shot. The eyes are the big standout to me. I see a lot of emotion in them and it works well with the "grunge" effect of the photo as a whole. Very well done!

Keep up the good work.

Holy moly Jimmy! This is great and so unlike you :) I would sharpen your eyes to make them really pop! The colors re great. I'm not a big fan of grunge but it's a bit refreshing to see people like you who don't use it much experiment with it :)
