Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Wide Angle (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: G-D of Luxembourg, Esch-Alzette
Date: Oct 15, 2005
Aperture: F/18
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/250 sec.
Galleries: Sports, Action
Date Uploaded: Oct 15, 2005

@18mm

Alternative titles:
*Catch/in' the Sunrise [poor play on words]
*Too large an Aperture [makes no sense: the ball is caught after all]

Self portrait. I was photographer, shooter and catcher :) I used the 10sec timer and jumped when I guessed the time was right.

I'm really satisfied with the image quality. There is very little noise in the original. I was also afraid of JPEG artifacts due to compression for the challenge, but fortunately the colour is pretty accurate. (Seems to be more of an issue with plain red...)

Converted from RAW with Canon Digital Photo Professional
Post Processed with PSP9:
-cloning out sensor dust
-resizing
-minimal sharpening (USM 0,55/100/17)

I left the rope in there, I don't think it would be considered a major element, but it doesn't distract either.
I'm glad I shot this in RAW, I'd never have gotten these colours out of an original JPEG!

i'm really stingy with my 10's during voting, but this was one of 2 pictures i gave one to... and of the two, this was by far my favorite.

This was a 10 to me and thought it really stood out and brought something different to the challenge. Thought it would score higher but a nice finish anyway. You young ones are taking over DPC.

Beautiful lighting, great how you caught the action. The wide angle adds greatly to the photo. Only minor remark: it would have been even better if the ball was not 'attached' to the boy.

I think that moving farther to your left might have helped accentuate the perspective in this photo

Pretty. I never get too many cool sunset photos. This is awesome. So sharp to be right in the middle of a stop action!

There are so many great questions for this image, where is this, where is the game partner, are there really people up at dawn to play volleyball. I absolutely adore the shot, very simple but still with energy.

Great! Graphically this is wonderful. Composition is perfect with the figure and the sun on either side of the framed in area. Love the color too.

What a fantastic photo!

Great idea and good composition. Feel a bit unsharp overall though.
EDIT: I'd like to revise that, I confused softness with the effect you get around backlit objects. Nice work!

Wow. Excellent photograph! It could probably do without the hanging wire though. 10 from me.
