Challenge: Image Grain (Advanced Editing IV*)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Harwich Port, MA, USA
Date: Oct 23, 2005
Aperture: 8
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Oct 22, 2005

I can't even begin to describe what I did here. Heavily cropped to begin with. I mean MAJOR crop.

Throwing grain in every which way I can imagine for hours, lost track of which was what :-) There's a gothic glow layer in there somewhere, but that ain't grain. There's layers of crosshatch and underpainting, both faded. Virtual photographer was used at some point but I'm not sure how much of it survived. A mishmash. This isn't a lot of fun, frankly...

I'll post up the straight gothich glow version after the challenge.

Whatever...

Grossly underrated Robert, should have finished much higher.

Really liked the painted look of this one. The image has artifacts as part of the grain in the dried pine branch, but it works for this one. It doesn't always. Nice grain treatment.

I really love this shot. You were obviously not afraid to use grain and I think it worked well. You can almost feel the brittleness of the fallen branches. I hope you do well in this challenge, I think you should.

This is a very grainy shot and I love it! This is my second view and am moving it up from a 6 to a 9.

IMHO there's just too much grain. Perhaps a more subtle amount would work?

One of my top pics, great shot and very seasonal too.
Love the detail and the grain just compliments it perfect. 10

I like it much better with half or more of the brown bottom croped out.

the range of colors is too flat... partially due to the added grain?..
