Level adjust and tight crop to fit in with the light on white "rules"

The cygnets I was photographing in the spring are now as large as the adults but still have the browny plumage (although it is slowly turning white)

There are about 15 of these huge birds in the local park and since all are looking for food they are pretty forward about asking, I was pecked a few times while trying to get close enough to the father for this shot.

Neat image to get that dreamy feel and submit

Steve

Everytime I see this photo, it reminds me of Heaven and Angels. I love it.

This is absolutly magnificent! I am ashamed for my fellow voters that were stupid enough to give it anything less than a 5, all 59 of them! Any that had qualms about the Light on White need to think of the reason for the exercise, which is to excellently photograph almost white (on) white without loosing form, or dulling or blowing out the brighter end of the tones. The less color the greater the challenge. You dared to shoot ALL white and did so beautifully!
Love how neat image adds a dreamy 'marble-like' feel, as sglantz put it.

I don't how many will vote this down or not, but it seems like this image is more white on light rather light on white. Otherwise, a beautiful capture.

Beautifully done. Is it a real bird or a sculpture. The softness and highlights on the feathers gives it a marblelike quality.

the lovelyest shot in the challenge. if the vote disagrees they are wrong. OK ther is an annoying hot spot top center, but the rest of it has a mystical luminance that deserves recgnition.

I love the softness and shadows of the swan's feathers..lovely and fascinating image...almost has a sculptural quality.

7 - Wow. Whilst no expert on 'highlight control' re the Challenge, seems to me you have done very well to not 'blow' any surface, save for a few feathers top middle. Criticism; difficult, as I do like this unusual view/angle, but (and especially for the Challenge) would like to have seen more of a 'white background' (even though I know the swan itself is basically 'the background'). Just, perhaps some more 'space' somewhere, giving more perspective/depth/not sure. Of course with 'basic' little could be done about the 'fly'(?) on the back. Good and very unusual shot. Up to 7 from 6.

the white "background" between wings and tail, is not white on this screen (usually very good), otherwise nicely done

This is a beautiful image but I'm having a hard time fitting it into the "white BG" category.
