when all has been said and done, the only thing to do is to live more lively not showing that you have failed and wait for tommorrow to happen!
i love this photo, specially the story that can be beneath the black and white photo. it's not just a pic but a story that is not told! and the light gives it a great character!

Very beautiful! I love the light coming from the side, the hand on the glass, de folds in the shirt. One of my favourites.

this is a very nice shot. good light, good subject. really speaks a lot. my only minor gripes would be that it's not super sharp, which doesn't bother me all that much but seems to maybe detract from it in this medium (i'm sure it looks better printed), and the fact that it seems a tad grainy. other than that, very well done. 9.

My only favourite this week. Fantastic portrait. Perfect composition and lighting. Perhaps a little too light in some parts but still a marvelous shot.

I really enjoy this photograph. The photo says what the title says, so I find the title very appropriate. The dark tones and directional lighting work well together here, as does your composition. 9

Great pic, I really like the way it is lit. With the relaxed edting rules I might have burned in the arm and the front of the shirt and neck a little though. 9. Good luck, Todd.

The pic seems to tell a story. Kind of reflection on life.
The arms and hands look powerful, worked hard.
Love the composition with the stretched arm, admirable lighting (and therefore exposure). Portraiture at its best if you ask me.

This photo is so beautiful it made me gasp. It's so simple but articulate.... I love the light, the pose, the expression, the title... Awesome. It's making me tear up. Dang.

I'm returning here after viewing all entries.
This remarkable photograph is my decided choice for blue ribbon.

It appeals to me very strongly, most of all for the human interest and the sense on the part of its author to 'see and freeze the moment' with such sensitivity and precision. The technical elements (the sensitive and sparse side light highlighting little more than is necessary, the eye-level perspective and 'conversational' distance, the composition dynamic 'left in' the picture by allowing for a wider shot etc.) given here are entirely subordinated to the 'gist and whole' of the picture, which, it appears, cannot be incidental.

The title is simple and poetically apt to a degree I would never expect in the context of this challenge.

I commend the photographer for such a rare 'transport'.

well, sorry i can't vote, but i think this is a stellar image. He reminds me of an ivan albright painting, yet done in photo. The lighting, title, expression on his face all want me to keep looking at. You have captured a mood very very well. thanks for the privledge of viewing it.
