Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Transparency II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di for Canon
Location: near Sargans, Switzerland
Date: Oct 28, 2005
Aperture: f/7.1
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/500
Galleries: Landscape, Nature
Date Uploaded: Oct 30, 2005

Shot from a moving train in northeastern Switzerland near the Liechtenstein border.

Dodge & burn, minor cloning, very slight rotate & crop, unsharp mask, sponge, selective sharpen.

Though the haze is somewhat transparent, the real transparency part that "creates the impact of the photo" is the very clear/transparent sky above the haze. I hope that's not too subtle of a fit for the challenge.

Awesome job, this is a very well deserved finish. This was an extremely tough category in my opinion. It was really nice to see something different in this category as well. I love the warm feel in such a scenic farm town area. I don't see much of anything I would change. The only thing, very small is possibly is adjust the contrast to make the sky a little bluer or add a polarizing filter. You did an excellent job, congradulations!

Wiggis, the mountain in the front sticks a mile straight out of the ground (500m - 2000m). Glaernisch in the back goes from 500m - 3200m, so more than 1.5 miles out of the ground. This picture is breathtaking, but still doesn't do it any justice being there in person. Glarus, Switzerland, is just an amazing area, and not just cause my mom grew up there. LOL

After seeing them all -- this photo was my favorite one in this whole challenge. Congratulations on such a strong finish -- but I think the commenters score is much closer to what this photo deserves.

Nice landscape. The border is distracting...haha...I just say that cuz it makes you sound smart. I think the border is fine. 7

Not everyone's immediate thought when transparency is mentioned, but a great take on it nonetheless. The detail in the hillsides is astounding.

Woo-hoo, a photo with no plastic or "ghost like" people. I like it. Well done. Great capture of the sun's light. One of my favorites, good luck in the challenge. 10

Straight 10 - great idea with the transparant fog. Not to mention that Wiggis & Glaernisch are some of my favorite mountains in the world ;)
