Wow, great tones and detail in this shot Laurie. Sad, but a very strong photo. Congrats on the top 20!

This is great. It reminds me of the kind of photographic studies Victorian photographers might have done back in the 1870's (or maybe that's just the silver gelatin...).

Great work Laurie! As Shannon said....elegant composition and the editing is superb! I'd love to hear more details about it if you have time.

I thought this was a great photo!! Love the 'old' texture feeling to it.

Went through and read the comments....Shannon said it best :)

I knew when I saw it the mouse was dead....but it was more of a "ooohhh...poor thing"....instead of a usual "yuck!"...which IMO means you did it right! :)

Coloration and lighting are very well done. Good compositon. Sad, though. 10

What an interesting picture. Makes me wonder how you came to see this. The sepia tone works very well. Almost looks like a drawing in a classic children's book.

This gets a WOW and 10 from me.

This defies every principle we hold dear... it's grainy, the subject is unappealing, the scene is kinda' cluttered... and it's beautiful. A wonderful example of artistic photography that draws you in with an elegant composition and a "peaceful' ending. I particularly like that the mouse seems to be holding the leaf like a flower, and the title is almost poetic. One of the best in this challenge IMO. Great job!

EDIT- it appears that I made a scoring error and gave this something less than a 10 on the first pass. I've corrected the problem. ;-)

I like the muted tones you chose on this photo and the composition is great. IMHO, the leaf covering its eyes seem to take just a tad away from the impact.

This is presented well. It shows how life is without being gross or disturbing.

this is an interesting, unusual, still life..it has a good composition and tone; it appeals to me.

I never imagined I'd say this about a picture of a dead mouse, but this is very good! Maybe it's because the deceased has his eyes covered by a leaf, but there something touching and very nearly human about it. I was thinking that you should have used more contrast, but on second thought your presumably deliberately flat & lifeless processing of it is pretty appropriate! 8

I wish I understood digital photo processing. Most of my submissions are untouched. This looks touched and I prefer those that don't look touched.

AWWWW. Poor little thing. This is really beautiful despite the sad reality of it. Love the post editing.
