great title! it plays perfectly off of the body language and even the shape of the cardinal's beak.

One of the best, great shot.

From the texture of the wood to the detail in the feathers and the narrow DOF, this is a great shot of a bird. When the bird is this colourful and appealing, it's even better. Great picture and I hope it does well.

Nice how there is no clutter in this shot. Not always easy with a perched bird.

This is really nice - it looks just like this cardinal posed for you! I love nice bird pictures.

Great composition. I love the cardinal's expression. Such a beautiful bird. Good Luck

8 - Very good color capture/retention/contrast, excellent bokeh, especially on the right. Criticism; 'if only' this were 640, likely would give it a 9. Difficult to discern at this size (not just because you've only gone 550, but just the restrictions/medium), but seems you have good detail in the bird, especially the upper part. Like to see perhaps the feet a little more defined. Possibly some slight 'light' issues on the beak, but difficult I imagine to adjust, re contrast issues. If perhaps you could have adjusted the angle, to get that bokeh 'dappled red' uniform, likely have given this something extra and made it an even better shot, in my opinion - still very nice as is (the bokeh).

Yes it is. I love cardinals and you captured a great image here.Great dof and the bg colors really accent your subject. The weathered branch accents it too. Good luck on this avian study -9-

This image is made by the expression of the bird. Perfect timing on your part. Or a handicapped bird? 9 - good luck in the challenge!

Cute Cardinal pic! Title adds to it as well. Good entry.

It sure is OK. You've got your little model cooperating. Now wait for the high marks to roll in and you two can celebrate! Perfect background, just blurry enough to bring the sense of natural environment for the cardinal. Bumping up.
