Greetings: from the critique club.

An image that invites more than one look. It has that Alchemical feel. The colors are pleasing and most important the effect is highly convincing. It is an image that explores avenues to intrigue the viewer.
By all accounts the final score speak of how well received the image was accepted.

Okay, the placing is great but this is an image that could have scored a ribbon. Let us explore some minor changes for a virtual BLUE.

The negative space on the left is a little wasted. Oftentimes, the artist does this to shift the weight to one side. However, some images are so special, such as this one, that there is no need to push for an asymetrical composition. No need here for the eye to follow the spoon's handle. The second consideration is the focus which must begin with the shavings otherwise many viewers will sigh with pity. If closing the lens presents a problem then shifting the die on the left a bit forward and placing the shavings back. The third item is the angle. The focal point of the image is where the smelting meets the die on the offset hole and here we need just a tad higher view.

Of course, it is easy to offer suggestions while be freed from the frenzy that is required to compose this type of image. Often time the hectic preparartions are so dominant that one overlooks the obvious.

Regardless, I extend you my warm congratulations on this worthy and outstanding effort. Kudos.

Lot of work in this one. Good central focus and very obvious challenge requirements - even without the title.

8 - Good. Criticism; maybe the focus a little different, not sure, just like to be able to see the 'hole' more - maybe different angle, tighter crop may have made this better in my opinion. Good effort.

Good use of the black background to make the image puch! The colors are wonderful and the idea behind the "cheat" is quite effective. 7

awesome photo idea. very interesting composition and grat colors. my one quibble would be that the shavings in the front of the photo are out of the range of focus and that blur is a wee bit distracting in my eye. otherwise, i think this is a great shot! congrats!
