I am not currently into recording my surroundings but rather in creating images. Nothing wrong with recording I done enough throughout my life and will continue to do so, but my perverse nature is exploring the satisfaction of my vision, bad as it may be.

All my toning is done by converting the image to grayscale and then back to RGB. I then apply curves on the channels by pulling up or down from the middle. The possibilities are endless. Often times, you need not touch the green at all. Merely pull or push up on the red and blue to suit your fancy.

This is not quite an authentic image but one made to appeal to the adult realm. It is manufactured just like advertisers do when they seek a response.

The branch rocking chair has been rotting in the basement. While I have a fireplace, I do not use it. So the chair and props were placed in position and I even went to the garage to fetch these logs. I then used lighter fluid to simulate the flame. My wife hates when I play with fire, she feels I am a child that may burn the house down to get a shot.

Once all set I used clamp lights, three, to complement the lighting.

Hence, my confession.

Mr. Funk,

Congrats on your yellow. I am always impressed by your creativity and an extra pat on the back for this beautiful study. I'm amazed at the detail you captured in the fireplace. I'd love to get a shot like this someday. Also on a side note, my wife loves the older furniture in this shot.

Well done and best regards,
Steve

6 - Like this concept. Criticism; like to see more context here and 'further out', cropping or zoom; more of the chair, table, etc. It also looks slightly 'off' so perhaps a nudge rotation up on the right, and more 'balance' in the composition, may have made this even better in my opinion. Toning works well, even though a bit 'hard' in places. Seems an 'issue' bottom fore to the right, 'something' there in front of the boots. edit:typos

Nice cozy shot. Like the composition, eyes drawn from chair to fire to table. and then shoes, Good luck on this cracklin image. -9-

what a great composition and color treatment. there's somthing blurring by the boots which is a bit distracting, but a very nice photo.

very inviting picture. nice arm tone even though it's monochrome. not quite sepia, but it works very well. nice sharp detail, but I wonder if a soft focus would have worked better 7

What makes this shot for me is the aged filter. The tight cropk works too, along with the perspective. The dim lighting skims over the table, chair and shoes, and makes you take a 2nd look. 7
