Growing up in Lansing, Mi, I remember people always referring to these towers as Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod. Finally one year, the State Journal actually held a poll/vote and the residents officially chose that as the name for this noticeable Lansing landmark. I'm sure if you've ever been around Lansing at night, you've seen the prominent towers with their blinking red warning lights and would agree to the name :-)

Pretty straightforward shot. Just sharing this Lansing icon, and thought it fit the industrial challenge nicely. Went out shooting with my bud, Toocool after work one night. Night photography is still pretty new to me, and not a great strength of my camera I believe. This is a 16 sec exposure, it was a very cold, snowy night.

In ps- cropped, auto levels, usm, selective color adj, levels adj., curves adj, resized, one more slight usm, added border.

Thanks for checking out my pic :-)

I've tried shooting at this location & it is difficult. I love how you've made colors, atmosphere and light the center of focus verses merely the stacks. Your eye travels to 3 points very nicely. The stacks, the gold whirl of trees to bottom right and back up to the swaying tree branch in the upper left. Very nice. Nice capture of the lights and their color. Winter is the best time to shoot the stacks as the white snow lights it nicely at night.

Dude, got ya beat on the winkin' blinkin' and nod shots so far, but it took me two tries and you did it in one... Congrats on the personal best. Keep it up and I'm gonna turn in my compact flash cards...

The compostion is a bit off with the stand of trees brightly lit in the lower right corner. It unbalances the wonderful colors and mood of the rest of the frame. 20 steps forward and 10 to the left?

I like this one, wish it had a little more smoke, but I like symetry of the 3 stacks, bumping up.

Perspective distortion, noise, and motion blur combine to make this somewhat less than I think it could be without those distractions.

I like the colors and the star-like effects on lighting. The tree with its bright highlights seems to visually distract from the facility, but it's a good composition overall.

cool shot, but the bush (tree) in the foreground seems too strong, too blurry

I'm afraid the bright foreground is not, in my opinion, consistent with the rest of the photograph. Seems distracting to me.

The colors are great here. Looks like a Christmas tree :) The trees on each side are a nice touch but the bright color on the bush on the right seems a bit much.

7 - Nice colors and perspective. Criticism; less trees in the fore and perhaps an even sharper perspective, and a slightly different crop at the fore, may have made this even better in my opinion.

Nice composition and nice use of framing using three different trees/ bushes. I like the three stacked columns and the way they provide both a strong vertical as well as a diagonal. The colours of the lights are also really ineresting. Works well for me.

Like the colors and composition but too much color noise and the dof could be better.

WOW - I'd never think I'd say that a shot like this is beautiful but it is. The colors, the clarity and the flair of the lights! I think what truly does it for me though, is the yellow tree in the lower right. It adds complementary tgones to the blues. The tree branches in the upper right are like fingers reaching out to touch the smoke stacks. The tree branch in the upper left helps balance it tout. This is great!! 10

This looks all too familiar to me. My father worked for Utah Power & Light for a very long time, and this looks JUST like Gatsby seam generation plant in downtown SLC. If it's not it's a very close match to a power plant in my home town. ;)

About the shot. Beautiful, I love the yellows in the foreground and the lighting of the plant in the background. DOF is great and the motion blur of the trees gives this a feeling of surreal proportions. OUTSTANDING JOB! 10 from me.

I had thought of shooting this but wasn't sure if it would be okay or not.
