i love this shot and the harsh light on the water. i think this kind of harsh lighting situation often creates great muted tones and a dramatic effect. tis nice.

As much as I like this, I think the ribbons are going to go to the human moms this time. Good luck!!

we rise from the sea like driftwood ..aimlessly floating to a vast land yet we fall to dust and the dirt covers us to send us back to the depths..nice shot

C'mon, this is a good seascape photo, but not for Mother challenge.

Oh com' on if it wasn't the title of the picture what would I supose to think. Where's the mother? Is she drowning in the sea?

Nice seascape. It doesn't garner a top vote because it's a little too simple. There isn't much to just sit and stare at. But the texture is nice as is the coloring. 6

The composition needs a little work. The subject matter could have been better. The image quality is a little below average. Could have been a little more creative. - 4

Back for comments. I'm sure your thinking you shouldn't have submitted this one. It's a very nice seascape but doesn't represent the theme anywhere near as well as you could've done. Damn our update button addictions. :)

Beauty is seen here in Mother Natures seascape.......

The contrast is a little too strong for a seascape photo, IMO. I feel that your composition lacks interest. It just seems that there needs to be something to look at besides water and blue sky with no clouds.

The water is oversharpened. Water rarely looks so sharp... Here's how to avoid it next time:

1) Apply USM for the entire image
2) Click the History brush
3) By default, the history icon will be on the original (as opened) image, you can move it to any layer just before your last change by clicking on the square to the left of the change in the history pallete.
4) Set opacity for the history brush to 50% or less.
5) Then begin painting back the previous (or original) view in the areas of the image where you don't want the sharpening to be visible.

Hope this makes sense. Any questions, feel free to PM me.

Nice shot. I think this is the first time I've seen water with such a strong texture. Nice colors, too.

Nice scene. It looks so peaceful - wish I was there ight now. I like the composition and how the lines of the beach front lead my eyes to the middle and then off to the horizon.

Beautiful photo! I have to admit I don't see the mother connection too well, but I've never been one to be too narrow about challenge interpretation. It's just a plain gorgeous photo! Good luck 10

Good pic, but you'll need a bigger shoehorn.
