Taken in Belize, C.A. - trapped in my room during a stormy afternoon I snapped this shot and was pleased witht the final product. I am not sure it is my best of 05 but I was torn between this one and 2-3 others. Alas I am going for the emotive response. (my guess is a 5.5)

As I thought. Underrated. Well, I like it. :)

I like this. It is emotive. The deep sepia tones add a lot to the feeling.

I think the levels need to be adjusted slightly so make the area surrounding the window actually black, rather than red like it is now.

This picture has some real impact just in how it was done. WOW.

I love the simplicity of this image. Even without a title it conjures up a feeling. BOL. My only comment from a personal taste is, I would like to have seen something (even if faint) of the wall. . . especially if it was wallpaper. 7 here

I lIke the lighting and setup and your framing on this. It just feels like it needs something else, not sure what, maybe a person, lady or kid looking out the window. Maybe if the chair didnt have so much stuff in it and we could see tha back of it, since its all blacked out it might have been better to see the whole back of the chair.

The soft drapes and the soft tones, against the darkness, works well in this image.....

interesting...i'm wondering if the shot would be strengthened with just the window and the chair removed

Very fine, evocative image. It takes both vision and courage to see and capture the emotional potential of what is on the face of it a prosaic collection of commonplace objects. The handling of the light is perfect, and everything else - composition, exposure and processing - flows from there. 8.

Rachel? Emotive. Mirrors my mood at the moment. Reminds me of work by Sudek. I like it.

Nice sepia colouring, maybe a touch to much wall on the right but difficult to crop any different.

...or melancholy...they both go hand in hand sometimes I think, or are they one in the same? This is so beautiful...the light, the different crimson tones you have chosen to use, the rain on the window...the delicate texture/pattern on the curtains...the complete and utter stillness...10 and fav.

tones excellent. I honestly don't think the composition here, what I can see what I can't see, matters much. You will probably get the "too dark" comments as people want to see it all (they need a new monitor) but I think subtlety is this images strong point. This is even shown in the fact that there are no blacks or whites in this image. Put together with the title, a strong statement indeed. Sorrow is one of those subtle emotions that sneaks up on you, much like this image. Bump up to 10. Good luck in the challenge. I have a feeling this will be way under-rated...

I like this shot very much. Great use of light, the composition is good and the rain on the window is great. Not thrilled with the pinkish tone...I think another shade of duo-tone might have been more effective but that's just me thinking out loud. Good luck.
