Amazing DOF for this shot. I feel that I could sit with this man and learn quite a few things about life. What a pleasure it was to run into this while voting. This has to be in the top spots for this challenge, you've nailed it and should be more than proud of what you have here. You've more than earned a 10 from me for this stunning and humbling photo of wisdom and peace.

Nice portrait with interesting lighting, but what I miss here is a related background. The photo would have more impact with an out of dof mountain range, monestary or something like that in the background. 8

Excellent lighting. The DOF is a bit too shallow for my taste. 9.

Nice image but it looks a dash soft all around where I would have prefered to see him and his chest in complete focus. I'm very curious to see what this wouyld look like in color.

A very nice portrait with nice focus on his head. If I were to say anything negative, it would be that it may bea little dark, but to by much.

Great detail in the face. The chest and shoulder look a great deal softer. Either this was taken at a large aperture or a bit of blur was applied. I feel that this seems to make the head 'float' above the body and would prefer to see the chest area a little sharper. Still a good photo, though.

I like the odd juxtaposition of this subject to the formality of the portrait setting. I'm not really appreciating the choice of a very shallow depth of field however, especially since there is nothing distracting in the background that needs strong blurring. I would like to see the whole subject in sharp focus.

It's hard to imagine going wrong when you have a model like this! Having said that, you have absolutely nailed this. The contrast between the liver-spotted skin and sleek robe is perfect and the head really projects from the image thanks to some great lighting and processing. If anyone complains about the lack of eye catchlights I shall personally readjust their karma....it nicely adds to his melancholic and grouchy air

Beautiful capture! Wonderful use of lighting and DOF. Good B/W conversion - really brought out the textures. Nicely done.
