Since the highest score I accomplished this year was for a bird shot for the "Free Study IX" challenge, I thought I should also use a bird shot for the "Best of 2005"

The background effect was done using the Radial Blur filter in Photoshop CS2.

AWESOME!! the decision to have this disqualified was wrong, you have supported your arguement well. Filters at the photographers discretion or DPC discretion????

nice crisp focus on the front bird - good use of DOF to keep the second softer focused. I'm not real crazy about the added motion blur.

the technique you used is amazing. I assume you zoomed in/out when taking the shot, having focused on the seagule. The second seagule blanaces out the picture pretty well. Good job: 9

This is coolest picture I've ever "experienced". Wow. My head started spinning when I first looked at it...freaky. I'll be looking forward to seeing how this was acomplished. Great shot.

I am a bit torn about the zoom blur, if it wasn´t there this shot would just be good but not really that different from a slew of similar shots I have seen but on the other hand it just gives me a slight sense of vertigo so I just wanna go see the next shot but lovely colours and a memorable entry. Enough for a 7 from me.

I'm really not a fan of the post processing here, I think it borders more in digital art that photography.

I think it detracts from the impact to have the background look so fake.

Absolutely amazing. Probably the best shot I've ever seen on here. I have no idea how you did this, because it was hard enough for me to do it with a flower that was standing still, but this is with birds flying at your head. Can I give it an 11?

I guess you must have selected the background and added a zoom blur? however you achieved this effect, it's brilliant - the head-on view of the bird couldn't have been better emphasized. obviously you are also very quick with your camera! I'm certain I would have missed this shot if I were in your place. Very well done.
