i almost got frostbit during this shoot. i thought of it on the way to work and just happened to have a red umbrella in the car! I set the timer and ran back ... and back ... and back ... I ended up jumping off of the rock seen on the right - but i felt i successfully appear floating away. Retouch: I had to mess with the foot prints quite a bit since I was runnin gup and down so many times -- it would be nice to have an asistant but how fun is that??? ... I also touched up the umbrella a bit and removed some faint birds.

I came across this a while back. I had not discovered this website when this challenge was up. But I love this shot. It is going in my faves list FOREVER! Love your work. Maybe we need to have an Ohio GTG sometime soon.

Glad to see this was assistantless as I expected it was. Also extremely glad to see this placed so high in this "plastic person" challenge.

It's the Great Lakes version of Mary Poppins. it is always a complement when someone says (like i am getting ready to), "not a single thing I would do to improve it". Keep it going.

I swear I commented on this already. It is excellent. Love the single pop of red from the umbrella. Excellent - well executed. 10

For me, this is one of the few photos that met the challenge as I understand it. I like the choice of a red umbrella against the bleak grayness of the weather.

I like the footprints in the snow, but it seems they should continue to the end. Otherwise, very unique, a wonderful idea.

This picture is funny because it actually looks like the person is floating away. The way the side walk goes back its sort of a one point perspective.

I think this is one of the best photos in the fantasy contest, well done! Using the red umbrella was a very good idea! The contrast makes it all worth while!

The light makes the guy & umbrella look flat and artificial. The footsteps and misty horizon are a nice touch.

I actually had this same idea, but thought a major element would be erased from the shot. I will ask about this one, just in case, for my future benefit. But kudo's for you and your model braving the cold. EDITED TO ADD: I can't reply to emails of PM's, but thanks for the explanation. In lieu of the explanation, I am going to bump this up, and good luck on the ribbon!!

good idea however you did it.

Very surreal shot. I hope that nobody was harmed in the making of this image. (It does look slightly dangerous)

I like the overall bluish grey and white tones in this image, with just the splash of red from the umbrella.

Wonderful. I love the effect that the snow has given here and the guts it takes to take your camera out in the snow and get a shot like this. The snow even makes the washed out sky work for me. The pinkness of the umbrella in this cold bleak world adds to the uplifting theme nicely. One of the top shots in the challenge.
