I love this shot, for one because you changed it to black and white which adds to the shot so much and the bubbles down the middle of the picture are awesome especially since you changed to B&W it makes the bubbles "pop" even more! Great shot!!

One of the best images I`ve seen around here for some time.
I`m so glad you`ve included the history of the pic as it`s fascinating.

I especially like the "Front Page composite".

Great work Skip.

I only voted on four in the Top Ten. This one was my top pic out of all the ones I did vote on (around 20-30%), so you can say that's a Blue Ribbon from me. ;-)

Seriously, you should get them to put this up for the World Press Photo - not least because they seem to love swimming shots in that competition. This is marvellous my friend, and by far the most striking image in the study. And, oh, the worst of all possible placings, to quote JJ.

02/08/2006 12:48:42 AM
Congratulations Skip, it's an awesome capture.

Edit: Typo!

Edit2: Have you thought about trying it without the reflections on the left? While they show it's in water, as a graphic, I imagine it's really cool with the only clue to the water being the bubbles. Something to think about when you make that poster!

What an unusual exploration of the human form, straight into favorites--thanks for helping me rethink what's possible! The water's reflection on only one side really adds to the composition, as do her mirrorshades. 10

Wonderful picture. Love the B&W. Really brings out the subject well. The reflection on the googles and color of the bubles seem to almost match.

What a striking photograph. The swimmer's expressionless face, the reflective goggles, and of course the trail of air bubbles combine to create a slightly alien feel. The composition/crop is terrific as well. I can't work out why the pattern visible between her arms is not seen in the general background. But I don't particularly care about that. 9.
