Can't believe it. Didnt really think this would ribbon because I thought the standard would have been higher. I had envisaged so many good ideas and great shots.

I found I got the best results if I set my camera to multiple shoot, and as the cyclists came in view I would track them keeping my hand steady and rotating with my body not camera. kept on pressing the shutter and by the time they were in front on me I would have got their speed.

Anyway thank you all very much.

This is an amazing shot. I think what makes it so much more unique is the composition. I love it. Looks like he is going down hill at an incredibly fast pace. Very nice!

I am not really all that fond of the slanted composition, not sure but I think I would have liked it more if it were leveled. Anyway, other than that pretty good, a textbook example of panning and well done on the technicals.

Nice job panning, I like the motion here. The only minor complaint is the loss of detail in the rear tire by the post. 8

this may be a winner!!!! Not only is this a perfect pan, but the color and composition are perfect. I love the fact that the image is tilted. perfect 10.

Good to see some real panning (after voting once already can see how few people understood the challenge. Nice composition and tilt. Good blur, and subject sharpness.

Nice job on the panning but I can't say I care much for the tilt.

Great shot. The impresion of going down hill really adds to this image.

02/09/2006 03:46:06 PM
Great combination of sharpness and motion panning blur. I think that less angle would be better.

02/09/2006 03:14:18 PM
Excellent shot. Subject is pretty clear and you can feel the mothion. The down angle works too.

It could have been this good with a horizontal horizon as well, if not better.

Wow! Normally I don't like this "normal motion panning" fotographs with cars or bikes but your photo is very good

Great job. Only thing I see wrong is whatever that is on the side of the road in front of the back wheel, but I am sure you already knew that anyway. Still one of the best images in this challege though.

lovely picture, good composition and especially like the colours, only fault would be the yellow post in front of the back wheel which is slightly distracting.

Nice photo, nice job on the panning and I like the angle. Might have been slightly better if the rider had space in front of them in the composition, though.

Great shot. Love the angle here - not sure if it was in camera of after rotating / cropping but doesn't matter - this is cool One of the best in the challenge so far.

02/08/2006 07:59:55 AM
This is one of the few shots I've seen so far that have really nailed the motionn panningness required for the challenge. But I'm am far being a fan of such tiltedness. Why?
02/08/2006 03:18:09 AM
Good capture but I'm not sure why you felt the need to tilt the image so much (the trees are a giveaway, as is the fact that no-one rides down a hill that steep on the aero bars and in the small chainring).
02/08/2006 02:17:20 AM
If only your subject wasn't leaving the frame...this would have had ribbon all over it!

love the composition here - one of the best of the challenge 9
