My son and daughter, two diametrically opposed personalities,an "angeI" and a "devil". was thinking of titling this along the lines of stairway to heaven/hell but they're both headed in the wrong direction (only kiddin'....really )
edit. actually in retrospect I think they are well placed. Katie's going down "there" to offer help and solace.Thomas is just determined not to do as he's told as usual ...lol

I just noticed this shot again. A strong composition, Balance, the lines. I love the cool symbolism... Great :)

This is a lovely image. The ups and downs of young life. I will go down to the townhall and do this also for my young two whippersnappers! (Daughters, actually).

Just added you as a favorite. I think ''Stairway to Heaven-Hell" would have been a great title!

Didn't manage to vote on this challege but would have scored this high.
A great range of tones in the Black and White and an excellent composition.
The ribon can't be far away, keep up the good work

thanks for my star ! I'm extremely chuffed...For those who wondered this wasn't set up,just my kids playing in the park and Thomas deciding steep steps and rollerblades were a compatible pairing.

I think this is one of the best in the challenge. I'm a big fan of the gritty black & white look, and this has it. This shot, whether found or set-up, has built-in odd coupleability - different directions, different levels, different clothing, different sexes. They are still similar enough to be considered a couple, though, so all is not lost. The only note I would have is probably a hold-over from thinking about the Square Crop challenge - that being that the top of the shot could probably have gone without being missed. Good luck.

Great use of contrast and balance.. The lighting and tone of the shot really make it stand out.

A very impressive study with a great title as the stairs and subjects really work and so extremely fine! 8

This shot really captures the imagination. Very interesting idea. The repeating pattern of the steps is put to good use. Well balanced/composed. I like.

I like this, good perspective and the choice to go B&W only does this justice!

This is such a clever image. I'd love to hear if you staged it or was just in the right place at the right time.

Nice picture but how is this an odd couple? Different directions but not odd at all.

Great photo, I can feel the concentration from the girl, those steps look steep..minus Yin and Yang and the steps would look like a wall.

Yin & Yang are a perfect couple. This image is awesome with great tones and composition, but I'm having trouble gauging how it fits in the challenge? JMO

Nice shot and good decision on making it b/w, love the high contrasy look of it. I didn´t open this in photoshop to measure it but it seems just a tad "off symetrical", seems like it´s tilting down to the left and that puts me off a little bit but other than that, a great shot, worthy of an 8 from me.

Sthose stairs are great and the crop is brilliant. The allegedly captured moment and drama of the roller blades makes this nifty - even without the great title! ... 8

Great title. I like this alot. The leading line of the stairs and the people going in opposite directions - spot on. 8
