From the Critique Club:

Congrats on a top 20 finish.

I think this is a very striking image. I always thought to try not to ceneter subjects up in the frame. Even though to me the subject is in the ceneter of the frame. The angle of the legs buckling, head tilt, ducky to the side. Make the image not very cenetered even though it may be. The lighting is spectacular! Very even and soft at just the right angle. As a newbie I would have left the entire shadow. But I see now how it fits without needing the entire piece. I personally can not find anything negative about the image. So i think as all to often it comes down to subject matter. Only being on the site for almost a year I have seen maybe 10-15 woody - ducky challenge images. So in my mind they are not to over done. But I am sure their are people who do not care for them.

I love the compassion, the tenderness, the raw emotion, and the exposed fragile 'human' quality inherent in it's purity. I understand.

I love how you can only see one of the ducky's eyes, with the eyelashes, so clearly female--the pose reminds me of Jessica Rabbit. And Mr. Woody's narrow pelvis marks him as a man. Great job!

Love the title on this one :) I echo most of the comments below. Thanks for the smile.

Probably because larry slighted me? jejeje™ Actually, there's an obvious prejudice against Woodies and Duckies in DPC; rarely do they break into the winning ranks any longer. I guess they got overused... And when you combine a Woody with a Duckie in the same picture, you're pretty well doomed.

I'm happy with my top-20 on this one; it IS an "outcast" after all :-)

Of course, when I first saw this one (one of my faves in the challenge), I did think it could have been Ken's, so I was right in one respect. ;-)

Wonderful shot Robt. Clever and original concept, emotive, brilliant execution and incredibly funny! Gotta be a fav.

no wonder I can smell "Art" in this pic. It's related to Ken!

Strangely enough, this is one of my favs of the challenge! You've somehow managed to capture a certain emotion with the way you've posed woody. And I love the 'snow' effect. The piece of snow on the duck is a nice touch.

But, it's just poor woody, standing there.... actually *looks* like an outcast! Lighting is good, focus is good, composition is great.

It never ceases to amaze me how these little wooden toys can be so realistically twisted and posed. Cute shot! :)

Common idea, but great perspective and capture. This one stands out among the toy shots (mine included) nice work.

I just absolutely love this picture. The knee deep snow, the body language of the puppet, the snow on the duck, the presence of the duck, the light suggesting at a setting sun, behind the puppet... I can't imagine a way to improve this picture. Thank you for posting this.

Wonderfull lighting, sharp focus, clever setup. I love it. You've made me laugh. I had to explain the rubber duck to my daughter.

Aw my .. I thought there was nothing left to do with woodies that would make a creative wonderful photo... I was mistaken.... genius to post this outside in the snow..

Go Woody! Run away with her, you CAN be happy!
Nice idea, interesting angle and actually on topic, too. Well done!

I must admit that I am sick and tired of shots of "woody" but this one made me smile, something just so cute and ridiculous about the placement in this shot :) Enough for a 7 from me but please, burn that woody after this challenge is over, hehe.

Good lighting with no noticable blown-outs.
A woodie and rubber duckie - definately an odd couple!
