Used two light sources for this picture. One behind her and one to here side with a softbox. Used vaseline to put the feathers on. We made a huge mess :)

Thanks to my beautiful girlfriend, Audur (babylon), for putting up with my crazy ideas.

Congratulations Arni...another win for Iceland...exceptional shot...Audur deserves the medal! It was a crazy idea...someone suggested you stuck the feathers on with peanut butter...now, there's an idea! Hope Audur cleaned up OK afterwards...well done

mybe feather the legs and put the shoes where they're meant to be instead. I understand that the eyes give some interest here, but the shoes just look silly out there. great high-key, very imaginative. crop and placement of shoes look a bit in-decisive to me. frustrating image to look at, but 7 overall

that's so annoying. comment stands, even some of the best pictures have flaws, I'd be blowing sunshine up your drawers if I said differently.

I like the high key. A little more even saturation of the shoes would really help the pop factor. 8

I love the idea, but I think after having gone through all the trouble getting the feathers on the girl you could have tried to make the pose and expression of the girl more interesting. To me, the composition looks a bit boring and it could have been such an amazing image.
03/12/2006 02:33:42 PM
Great effect, or were you really covered in feathers? Anyway, I think this would have been a little better framed somewhat differently, but it's pretty incredible so a 9 from me.
