different curves for the top half and the bottom half. blended by erasing one layer above another. partially used the top-half curves for the sneakers, so they wouldn't be bright white.

This is lovely. So interesting to read your editing method. I am doing an online course at the moment with Brooke Shaden and she uses this technique a lot. Not just "upper and lower" parts, but also selectively within her image.

I know I am coming late to the party, but I happened across this image and wanted to add my congratulations for such a fine photograph. I love the dark layer for its mood. Nice composition and use of light too. Well done.

Never voted on this one but I would have given you a 6 or a 7 for it. The sky, just how I see it, could be a little more saturated to increase the tension with the bottom half of the image. You are a true artist from whom I wish to learn so much.

Just to let you know this is one of my favorite poems - maybe because I once wrote a different version of it ("I wombered longey as clod..."). There are no "diffypills" in the picture, though. ;-Þ

Why is this the first time I'm seeing this image? Probably due to such great great self absorption.

This is really fantastic. Great feeling and I'm glad to see the colors were kept true to themselves. Cheers!

When I first saw this in the challenge, I think I said that 'it was magical', and it is.....
It definitely has a feeling of calmness, and is quite serene, but also a little mysterious as well.

It could be the start of a great novel, of a movie, the first scene one sees or read about, as it has that appeal.
If I were giving out any awards, this would have to receive one, for its "Excellence on all Levels".....

Oh Wow, sorry to have missed this one in the challenge. This is a gem for sure. The dark middle of the image works well into creating a sense of depth and mystery.

This is a fantastic shot. It creates a very mysterious mood. The mist obscuring the ground is just heavy enough that you can feel the air.

I popped in to thank you for your comment on my image and realized that you took this shot. I absolutely loved it and gave it a 9 during voting. It's beautifully done and has such a nice ethereal quality. I was especially captivated by the light and the texture of the grass. Great work! And thanks again for your comment.

Created a nice effect. Looks a nice place, then your eyes are lead in and it looks a little eiry as the mist moves in.

Great shot

This is a very interesting pictograph, and it appears to have been taken with a somewhat crappy camera, which is inpiration to me. I must also express my fondness for your name. It's funny because its true.

Okay, here goes.

I chose this one, because it speaks to me. The clouded, misty ground obscures the way ahead, which only leads to a darkening landscape devoid of comfort. The barely discernable structure brings no comfort, as it looks to hold within things more menacing than those without. One is drawn to risk the chance for shelter from the night, but fears what might be within. Night is coming, the storm is rolling in. You are alone and soon it will be dark. The story inherent in this picture really does tell a thousand words.

On a technical note, the processing is great, the placement of things take you from person, to fence and barn, to the sky, down the branches, and back to the person. My eyes and mind keep wandering over the picture, and are constntly entertained and absorbed into it.

The effect is that I am engaged, and I must find emotions and thoughts to describe what is here in front of me. Memories come back, things I had forgotten return, things I've feard, things I've wanted, but am too afraid of wandering into the world to go find them. To grab ahold of them and make them mine. I fear what is in the darkness, as much as I know my soul yearns to step into the unknown and find what I am lacking. But there is only one way to move forward.

I didn't vote in this challenge and I only briefly perused them after the voting. This is lovely! It's so different from what I've seen you do so far. I really like the way you've placed the woman in the frame to really emphasise the vastness of her surroundings. I like the soft misty quality. Congrats on your first top five!

... that floats on high, o’er vales and hills. Lovely verse and image that pulls me along the pasture, to hills, trees and sky. Only slight distraction is the branch across the wanderers head. Good luck -8-
