From Costa Rica -Apologies for the small image. I don't have photoshop on my laptop - it took hours getting the file size to 150 using iphoto - any adjustments added to the file size and it had to be sharpened so I went to a small image. No time here to do any better. I sure like the image, there are lots of others that needed slight rotations that I can't do here. I'll post others when I get home in 3 weeks.

Absolutely fantastic picture. It has the atmosphere of a real candid. The minor technical shortcomings mean nothing alongside the plus points; the soft lighting, the poses of the girls, the composition, the subtle colours...

It was one of (I think) two tens I gave in this challenge. I can't believe it wasn't a top three finish.

Thank you for the excellent comments and scores. I’m sorry I didn’t have the time to vote in this challenge.
I later regretted using this title - the song to which it might allude is wrong for the innocence of the girls.
The cut off feet is the biggest dissappointment - gotta take more care - the picture will never happen again. I agree that it needs more light from the left but I would never use a flash fill in this situation, The girls knew I was shooting but I was being as unobtrusive as possible, I had the little camera on my knee while they were watching their teacher be introduced to two of my students (we are working on a community project across the road). The girl on the left is Carolina (pronounced ‘eena), her mother helps cook for us.
I guess I wanted to be a bit like Henri Cartier-Bresson in the neighbourhood with his quiet little Leica rangefinder.
I’m glad some people liked this a lot - I do. There are two other pics from this day that may be technically better and just as engaging that I will post in a month or so when I get home and work on them.

Very cute. Nice colors. I like the light thru her hat. I would have liked to see all of the shoes on the girl on the left, but beautifully made anyways. 9.

Very cute photo and such expression on their faces! I like the basic composition, but would like it more if you had given it more breathing room and not cropped so tight. I would like to see all of their feet and there would be more balance and less visual tension if more space above. In a perfect world it would be nice to have a large reflector get a bit more light on the faces of the two in front, but that is unlikely to have been possible.

The shadows on the first two girls' faces are a bit too dark, but the colors are great! -7

lovely candid, like the softness, only wished the crop was a little lower, allowing all their feet visible in the frame - nice capture :)

Lovely shot. Abit of fill flash would have added some nice exposure to the faces. Also, watch those feet. We have one girl amputated.

Delightful expressions, nice colors, pretty good composition, and backlit hat is nice. A bit sharper and with all of the feet would be better.

This image has almost everything to win it all... I think some fill flash would have made it excellent. The faces are a bit too dark, but overall it is great. 9.

I love the expressions, setting. It's a shame there couldn't have been a bit more light on the ones on the left. They're just toooo cute!
