Wow thanks everyone!

This is one of the first images that i ever saw on DPC. It blew me away. So I thought this was a fitting one to tribute (plus I live and work in London :-) )

It was actually taken at sunfall. Not quite dark enough for the lights on the bridge to come on though. I dodged them in.

I agree that your water had much better refelctions than mine. Giving it a more dreamy city feel!

Thanks Alex - very flattering that you chose this shot for your entry.

I've got to say that it feels very strange seeing this - it's almost like deja-vu. Oh, yes, that's the point isn't it.

I think you've done a great job emulating the shot, and the high tide adds a different 'spot-the-difference' kind of element to the photo.

I wouldn't be doing you justice if I didn't commment critically, so:
> you've vastly improved the colour by making it more freshly blue - a change which I've added in the print of this by removing some cyan and yellow
> the detail in the dome is great too - richer and more detailed
> you've caught more detail in the office buildings on the left too
> the high tide has removed a bit of extra feature from the pillars - which I like so much and miss in this version
> you've over-dodged it a tad in the river, pillar and railing areas and I miss some of the reflections
> I'm puzzled by the difference in lighting on the bridge which made me wonder what time of evening this was shot
> I think I prefer a more portrait composition

Thanks for the submission and I hope you take these comments in the friendly spirit they're intended. I hope you gained something from the experience too. I find this kind of process very useful in the same way that performing a cover version in music can be an eye-opener - as I also found myself when entering the Ansel Adams challenge (and I'm not comparing myself here - perisjh the thought).

All the best
Jon

I liked the original and I like this one. I gotta take that picture sometime myself. You did a good job giving it a surreal look.

I am going to throw a wild guess and say that this is Alexsabreris shot, I know you are in this challenge and I know you are doing well :) Anyway, love the shot, it is as good as the original and possibly even better but I can´t really give it a 10 because it is a remake that doesn´t really add anything to the original so I´ll give you a 9, happy with that? :)

This looks a little bit overdodged in places but a good shot and a good rendition besides the fact. THere are some obvious elements of editing around the dome as well,

The more I look at this the more I like it Some how you have managed to give the bridge a look like an artist rendition of a futuristic bridge.
