Challenge: Complementary Colors III (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED
Location: My kitchen
Date: Apr 23, 2006
Aperture: f16
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/500th s
Galleries: Macro, Action
Date Uploaded: Apr 25, 2006

Getting the colours to look the way they really are was a lot more difficult than I had anticipated.
The little splash was also orange in colour, but the back lighting turned it slightly yellow.
I'd have loved to have cloned out some of the imperfections but basic editing is basic editing....

This is a comment from the Critique Club;

What do I like about this image;
-Almost everything - nice composition, nice colours, nice background - Shit - great image (excuse the french)

What I would've changed;
-Seems a bit dark. Specially the umbrella
-The splash almst seems pasted if you know what I mean. Maybe it would've been a goot idea to leave the splash out.

Anyway - GREAT SHOT. I see in your portfolio that you like splash and water shots. Some impressive work there.

I like the lighting on this a lot. If you could share some insight on how you lit this, I'd be very grateful.

I like this photo, however I don't like the splash on the right, the photo really doesn't need it. They are nice colours though.

Now this is excellent!!! Thought it was just another drink shot until I saw the little splash which looks almost like a little umbrella itself. I like this alot and I think its very clever. Great complementary colours BTW. Good luck.

Great setting and lighting. Slightly more light on umbrella will add more to the theme.

I love this! Wonderful creative idea fro from flowers / vegetables / fruits. Didn't see that little splash from the thumbnail and was v pleasantly surprised. lol such a cool idea and title. Only suggestion would have been for the umbrella to be "more orange" but this is great. 9

Could you have added a bit of highlight on the umbrella to lift it up saturation-wise? Lets down a really good shot.

Neat idea. I think I Would have gone for the umbrella or the water drop but not both. Seems like it could use an overall color boost or perhaps a tiny bit more exposure? Nicely done, though.

7 - Not sure what you captured there on the right, but it is interesting and the color is good. Coloring of 'liquid' and umbrella are good, although like to see them a little more vivid. Background, while quite 'pure', doesn't 'boost' them enough, in my opinion. Could just be the subtle lighting though, not sure.
