Curves, dodge/burn, shadow/hilights, bright/contrast. Sharpen.

Thanks for your good wishes on the nice placement for this beautiful Egret. I'm delighted that this gorgeous bird placed so nicely.

Regarding the foliage: I deliberately chose a pose with the palm fronds because they seemed to delineate the lines of the bird. And, he was displaying nicely in that particular image...

I do thank those who commented both ways on the palm fronds.

Excellent shot, and with the right lens to get things into perspective. I think the palm fits well with the feathers in this and adds a lot in the way of interplay between the tree and the bird. The white sky is nice too.

Critique Club:
What a beautiful bird. I like the tone of the picture. There are a few thing I think would help this picture to be even better.
1. Fliping the canvas horizontally. We read picture just like we read text from the left to the right. I start reading this picture and the palms and the back of the bird stops me right away. If you flip it the picture becomes more open in my opinion.
2. I like the palms and you are absolutly right abote it. It delineates the lines of the bird. But the ones out of focus in the foreground bothers me a bit.

All over a good picture beside those minor details. Try to flip it in photoshop and see what I'm talking about.

Good luck in future challanges :)

Best regard, Arni

back and forth on this one. strong graphic elements but the composition is a little weak. or is it the colors? none-the-less, interesting. 8

Love this one. Very nice combination of 'feathered leave' and 'feathered bird'. Great detail.

How did you take this photo? Clear and bautiful but the leafs distract me.

it might be better (in my opinion) if the leaves on the left isn't there, and you can then do a tighter crop covering only the feathers around the head and neck?

Beautiful shot. Great sharpness and composition. I actually like the leaves in front of his body. Gives me the feel that he is coming out and making an appearance. Very nice.
