WOW.............(still staring)...beautiful!!

(Ok, I need to learn how to post process!)
07/18/2006 04:21:23 PM
for godsake look at it!
ok it has a bit of photoshop on it but that's what digital images are for and you have to admit that the position the photographer chose was great.
06/14/2006 02:39:50 PM
exceptional photo. who cares if it's post processed? the finished product is amazing. rediculous in my opinion for someone to say that this didn't deserve the ribbon because of post processing. learn photoshop. then you won't be jealous.

great job on this wonderfully poetic image. i would have given it an 11

Who cares if its edited! It takes talent to make a photo look like that! It's a breathtaking photograph ...period! Kudos!
11/19/2005 11:36:12 AM
I cant seem to find the original
03/04/2005 08:15:49 AM
I have to agree with Miah on this one. It's an OK shot but without the editing it was nearly completely bland.

A+

this photograph was on my favorites list until i saw the original.. then i realized it was all in the editing.. i am beginning to despise digital manipulation.

Astounding shot! Curious - did you use a graded blue filter on an angle, or how did you get that beautiful colour in the sky?

Who in the world would only give this shot a 2?! Talk about unrealistic standards...jeez. Even on a bad day this should get nothing less than a 6...Great shot.

All I can say is... WOW! Did you use a polorizing filter to get those blues or just boosted the saturation?

Great job!

Wonderful colors and sense of desolation. Great lighting as well. There appear to be some signs of civilization in the bottom right which diminish the "desolation" aspect. Even so this was one of my top picks this week.

Even though this picture is clearly not in a tropical area the first time I looked at it the colors reminded me of the bahamas or another carribean area. The sunlight that encompasses the tree really makes this picture magnificent. I especially like the two colors of the clouds. Although I guess you can take credit for that!

That's a VERY good picute! Love the colors. Personal taste - maybe back off just a bit (more negative space around the tree) and move to your right (if available) to catch more of the hills (and less of the town lights). If that wasn't possible, oh well. This is one of the most striking pieces I've seen here in a while. Hands down winner!!! 10 Rob the Swash (I guess now I'm going to have to vote so this counts!)

Nicely composed, but the red/yellows are just a little too bright for my tastes. Great sky though!

08/16/2003 08:47:02 PM
Awesome contrast between the warm yellow light on the tree and the cool deepbue to underwatergreen of the sky. The dark profile of the horizon takes the eye across the photo.
The warmth of the presumably death three is also in stromg contrast with the almost desolate landscape.
Excellent.

Spectacular picture, I feel sad to give it 9 because I see the rightmost part to be superfluous and because IMO the tree centered in the frame would be more powerful

Beautiful colors and well focused. Seems a bit over-sharpened, but that may be the monitor I'm using (not my calibrated one at home). Conveys desolation well. I wish there was a bit of space to the left of the tree like there is to the right.

Excellent. The colors are wonderful. It appears as if you pushed the saturation to the max, but it certainly works here. Nice job. As soon as I can, I'm adding this shot to my favorites -- this will be only the second picture to make that list. Congratuations. If you don't ribbon, I'll be surprised.

The colours are just fantastic. Unfortunately I don't see it fitting the challenge. The richness of the sky draws me away from the tree and deadwood. A 6 for it being such a good shot.

This is the kind of shot I had in mind but couldn't find any suitable one. And you made it great. It's an excellent natural lighting. Not sure about the tree is neither in the middle nor lean to the left though. Otherwise this would be perfect for me.

08/13/2003 06:39:41 AM
An absolutely gorgeous photo, beautiful lighting (presumably the tree is lit by a very nice sunset), great range of colours in the sky with very effective saturation. Nice horizon. Unfortunately, it doesn't really communicate desolation to me, as all the colours are so rich (especially the gold light on the tree). However, score = 8 (10 for a suitable challenge).

08/13/2003 04:13:27 AM
nice picture, but I think the tree should fill less frame
