Obviously a spoof on the blockbuster "Da Vinci Code" book and the forthcoming movie.

Pinchy is a relatively little known Simpsons character. This is probably the most expensive setup shot I've made to date. The nice thing about this prop though is that we can eat it after the shoot. Printed the text on a standard A4 paper trying to mimic the font and colors of the book cover. Then tore it apart and glued on a cardboard with a matching hole in it. Lighted with a combination of window light and flashlight. Used black cloth to block light from the back. I guess that's it. Postprocessing very straighforward: converted from RAW, adjusted hue, sat, levels, etc. Healed minor things. Rotated, corrected perspective a little. Cropped.

I don't know if I am going to be punished for using text in the photo, but since I printed it first and then shot it, it is definitely legal and besides it would not work without it at all. We'll see how it goes.

It might not be saying so much, but this beats seven sorts of bleep out of the book and the movie - thanks for the laugh.

Hi from the Critique Club!

A very timely image!

One of the best things about challenges here on DPC, is that they give us an excellent and rare opportunity to allow our more creative and humourous side free reign. And when we choose to do that look at how much effort we are prepared to put into it! That creativity, humour and effort has been justly rewarded here as evidenced by your score.

I can't find fault with this image. Except that you have managed to make the poor creature look human - look at those eyes! Are you sure that isn't a self portrait by Da Vinci?:)) And that enigmatic smile!! And then you ate him/her?!!!!

Technically, everything is spot on, as well you know;)

An inspired and highly creative image.

Extremely clever and well-executed, and I'm happy to see it finish in the top 10 (I figured you might get clobbered for the text). Marvelous work!

Validated or not, this is one of the most creative entries I've seen, and made me laugh. Really well executed. Great lighting. Like how the color on the claw carries over to the text. Excellent. I see Russell Crowe as the lead :)... no, Stallone!!!
