CONGRATS!

I'm so pleased for you. It seems that AZ is such a great place to get desolation shots :) *winks*

I didn't vote, but this would have gotten a 10+ from me!

well done,
Annida

This does capture desolation for me. Very well-taken shot - you\'ve chosen the right time of day and a great viewpoint. Good luck - should do well. [9]

I like the composure of this picture. Perfect focuse and great color (lol) or nice lighting I should say.

Strong feeling of desolation in this shot. I think the contrast is a touch too high, creating the noise in the sky. '7'

I very much like the choice of bw here. It really adds to the feeling of a desolate landscape.

This looks like my neck of the woods. Very nice shot one of my top 10. The shadow makes to composition by leading you through the photo off into the desolation. Hey this would have worked for Right Angle too. Nice Job :)

Yes, this is desolate. Not many people understood the meaning of the word, I guess. Nice detail in the trunk and I like the shadow. Nice work, good luck.

Excellent image. Great detail in the wood grains; the form of the shadow is composed so that it is a strong element and leads my eye to the mountains. It all just works very well for me. Nice job.

Now this is desolate. I love it. I have a weakness for old dead trees and this is a good one. The shadow adds the perfect touch.

Great shot, fits the challenge like a glove. NeatImage might do something for the sky, but on the other hand, it looks good a bit grainy on this beautiful B/W. My favorite yet in this challenge

Good composition as per rule of thirds, the harsh shadow of the stump enhances the picture as does the generally high contrast.

This is one of the few shots that actually comes close to feeling desolate to me. Very nice job with your camera and your dictionary :) I'd like to see this in DPCPrints later...I'm a bit fan of it. AZ?UT?NV?

Good idea, I particularly like the shadow. I think the shot is a bit too light to really communicate lonesomeness.
