This is certainly one of the better entries I've seen so far for this competition. You've clearly demonstrated that you know how use your Canon to achieve the best results for this type of photograph.
I'll start with the composition. Your location and timing is perfect to gain the image that you wanted. The lighting is good enough to make out all of the details in your scene and the sky looks could with light cloud cover stretching from the POV of the camera into the distance. The colours in the image compliment each other perfectly to achieve excellent implementation; your call on a 1/200 shutter speed definitly helped to improve this. Your off-centre cross actually works suprisingly well as I've seen others try and undertake off-centred subjects and recieve much lower results. I find the tree on the far left a little distracting as it seems to stick into the sky and interupt the flow of blue.
I think that perhaps a little photo editing software may have helped to improve this by increasing the contrast slightly, giving a little more depth to the colour and getting rid of that slightly faded impression that covers your photograph.
All in all, this is a fine photograph taht should've scored better. I think it may have lacked a little relevance to the competition in terms of holy 'places' but otherwise, unlucky on what may be a slightly dissapointing result.
