Great shot! hope this does very well for you. Made my top5 list for this challenge. One very minor nitpick would be the blown highlight near the nose bridge, it takes a bit of the focus off the eyes.

Bit too much contrast for my liking, but good lighting, great composition, and excellent expression! 8

Fine portrait, with good detail and tonality - the conversion is pretty well done, perhaps the very extreme highlights only causing problems. Good light too. Is the rope alone enough to speak of environment? On balance, I think it is.

Nice DOF and feel. I really like the spectral highlight you captured in his eye on the dark half of his face.

This is a nice portrait. I really would like it if the top of his head wasn't cut off. It's the style now to do that but to me it really makes it look incomplete.

The title surely suits this shot. Your subject definitely looks like the rugged outdoors type that would be perfect for a Marlboro advertisement. Good luck! 9

Wow! Great work! This is top notch for sure. It really tells you about the guy, the strong lighting, rugged expression, the rope, his hand, everything. My only suggestion to improve it would be to include his entire hand. 9

Great eye contact...he really connects with the viewer. Environment is implied by the rope and the wood beams in the background. The high contrast of the image seems to go well with the ruggedness of the character and the texture of the rope... abrasive.

Good portrait. Almost enough background is showing to think it's a barn, and this would be a great ad, but I'd like see more of his surroundings.
