talk about the perfect title...
ahhh this lets me breathe...sometimes this site is about creating something unique and hoping you can communicate it and have someone get it...
let me say i get it too..

regarding the challenge obviously lots of dnmc opinions
i think here the discussion is not about the -inanimate thingie but if people were able and willing to see that composing the image is a pure form of -arranging especially when so conscious every element in the pic as i felt i did here, it would have helped i guess
whatever
its no surprise i dont attract large crowds
better enjoy it underground while i can~)
also its good to know people can get completely on the same wavelength every now and than))
this site is about having fun isnt it
a little simplification maybe;) but hey thats what im heading for !

Sssssssssizzzzzle! It's hot!
I gave this a higher score than I scored the three ribbon winners combined!
What a poor judge I am! Fortunately, some other poor judges liked it too.
Brilliant photograph ... maybe you are the Dutch Don Quixote?

why the hell does there only have to be one definiton for "still life"
depends how far people wanna search, i found this:-

-Still life - inanimate subject, either in the studio, or outdoors, normally arranged to make full use of form, shape and lighting.

which means its still life. it is in my book and 100% better than
a lot of arranged ornaments.

can not believed the narrow minded people. end of rant. :)

great photo btw.

Yes well...I figured this wouldn't do so well but am pleased it's atleast not at the very bottom...this image is so good I could barely stop thinking about it...I just kept wanting to give it something more than a "10"...like wall space in a museum or gallery perhaps...

...You are an artist Wil.

This does not meet the challenge - inanimate but not an arranged composition of objects.

First subtract all those people with a myopic definition of Still Life, then take away those who can't recognise a good photograph anyway. What's left is not enough votes to lift this brilliant work above a score in the mid-5's. Hell, it's so good it probably won't even make 5!

Presumably, in view of your wry title, you were prepared for the dismal "Not a Still Life" crowd. But I'll bet nothing will have prepared you for how seriously this will be underestimated as a photograph. 10.

The contrast between the subject and its environment is amazing here.

...yes...that is the perfect title I think...exactly what I did as this image opened...this demands my complete attention and who am I to argue...

I absolutely love this, but it isn't a still life. A still life is a group of inanimate objects artfully placed by the artist. This is just a mesh bench. I wish this wasn't entered in this challenge because its minimalism is great and I love the contrast.

Sorry, I do not feel this meets the challenge. Nice shot otherwise.
