Decided to leave this one open for interpretation (negative or positive results), though a failure either way. I'm not sure it will do very well, but we'll see... especially after how my lens cap entry is doing, lol, thought it would do good

This was done with a lamp in the tub, I wish you could see more face and that the door weren't in the way so I could move the camera more right and get the tub tiles in top right out of the picture and more negative space up top, but I'm pleased with the expression & pose, and the floor & perspective, I hope everyone can tell that it's supposed to be a pregnancy test

here's my version using advanced editing:

Hi, I notice this shot during the contest and I assign you an high rating.
I like this shot for many reasons.
1) The composition that I think is perfect
2) The tone of the shot very nice
3) It is perfect for the challenge
4) The light and the shadows that there are. The bit of over exposure on the left side of the woman add a dramatic tone to the image
5) The model is perfect in her pose
6) It is one of the little photos that even if released in a bathroom have good taste and he is not gross indeed it is nearly timid, discreet, intimate.
A very good work.
Best Regards
Gennaro

This is a powerful shot. I actually prefer this one to the edited version. It's somehow more emotional - it says "raw response" to me more than the other one.

Okay, you could get rid of the spot on her right. But I prefer the angled tiles to be visible.

I really like how you left it open to interpretation!

I gave you a 10 for the picture. The harsh lighting, the blue of the towel, the position on the pan :) and the way your head and hands are held really did give an impression of disappointment or despair.

Amanda, this is a good take on the challenge!
I especially love the cool edit you did to the pic - moody and depressing.
Good work! I'm sure there'll be more coming from you in the future!

Nice one Amanda!

The photo illustrates a powerful story in a simple and graphic way. That's a very good thing because what to say and how to say it is often 90% of the battle. I think you nailed that part down nicely. Obviously, the highlights are over-exposed, but the high contrast side lighting was a very good choice as it adds drama and complements with the subject. A bit more work with the lighting might have paid off in a big way.

Congratulations on making it into the top 20 Amanda!

Excellent! I Gave this a six, quite on the money.

Great lighting, great feeling goog and comp, and I think it conveys the sentiment well. I agree that more face would show more emotion, and like you I don't like the tiles on the right, especially as they're not straight.

Well done Amanda, you just keep getting better. I'm impressed with you getting a 6+ score in only four attempts (I've done 10 enteries and can only manage a 5.7)

Great job showing emotion! I also like the annononity that the lack of light on the face shows. I think the light is a little too strong on the leg and arm and could be softened up a bit.

Good, moody lighting and composition. One can't tell if she failed to get pregnant or contraceptive failed! The pregnency test is perhaps a bit too subtle here -- I must admit that at first glance I thought "constipation".

A dramatic picture well captured, with good composition, though I find the tiles on the right a bit disturbing, a completely homogenous background would have been better, but nothing serious.
The face is mostly in darkness and just a little light shines on it so we can it a little, this greatly increases the drama if this picture.
I like it very much, good job!

Perfect porcelain portraiture pose. The single side lighting adds drama and impact conveying the mood of gloom and despair. Very well done!

Very nice. While it depends a great deal on the title, as soon as I read it I got that stomach-turning feeling. Great lighting and excellent composition make that feeling and mood possible. Nice work!

I like the dramatic lighting in the shot. However, it would have captivated me more if I could see more of the anguish on her face instead of it being mostly in shadow.
