Extra thanks to the model...can I call you sometime? ;~)

For all of you who are appalled that there's a naked person in the picture, I have some choice words that you should really take to heart...grow up. There's nothing more natural and beautiful then the human body in all its forms.

Post:

Very minor healing of a couple of imperfections (if you can believe that there were any)
Slight burning where the light was a little hot
Warming filter
A little bit of Noise Ninja

Some get appalled some applaud.
I agree it's totaly natural and an artistic/photographic form.

The arms and neck look a bit alien in their shadowed-shape, but the butt is okay.

This is a beautiful photo. I would die to have that skin! Very nice detail and lighting. Just one critique tho. Her upper left shoulder looks a little strange, but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. Great 4th place win!

From the Critique Club

A very nice low key image. The lighting is very good along with the focus. Your subject works well in the center of the photograph and shadows of the models body contours enhances the appeal. Very visual friendly.

If I had one spot of the image that I wish the lighting would give more detail would be the arms. Compared to the legs and lower back the light on the arms are very thin and minimal. Other than that a technically sound photograph done in a tasteful manor.

Good job!

I hope you find this critique helpful.
Thanks,
SDW

Can't wait for your portfolio...Don't worry, most are NOT appalled by nudity.

Thanks so much for all the comments and the high votes!
My comment on people being "appalled" by nudity was not meant to be a heated comment. I just get upset when people say that a great picture is no good because there's nudity (I've seen it a lot even on this site). My remark was not directed at anyone specifically and it was written prior to submission. Picture was taken at about 10:45 and submitted just a few minutes before deadline, so I quickly wrote what was on my mind. The point I was trying to make is that the body is beautiful--somewhere along the way people have forgotten that...but that's a rant for another day.

Congrats on 5th place! Beautiful shot of the female architecture.

Nice finish.. Doesn't seem anyone was appalled by the photo though.. I think they all save that for mine :)

Well done on a well deserved 5th place. (Not sure about your heated comment directed at the "appalled" members ... you havent got any 1's or 2's and theres no one implying that in the comments below ...?)

If the arms would have been forward out of the light source or camera view it would have given a more natural look and curve to the left back area. The lighting and skin tones are great though. Bumping up....8

Fantastic lighting. I like the isolation of the body witht he head and front fading to darkness. IMO, moving the subject a little more off center may increase the eyes movement in a curve.

Very nice. I find the top part of the picture looks a little wierd. May be a tighter crop around the shoulders. Good Luck. 9

Very nice lighting and color. I think I would prefer the left arm moved forward a bit.

This shot is simply fantastic. Its real soft yet high contrast at the same time. The heavy shadow gives it a sense of mystery and the curves are accentuated extemely well by the light. I wish it could fill the frame a little more but thats my only complaint. 9

The left arm seems to throw an awkward shadow on the back, but otherwise a beautiful shot.

The angle of the light on the neck and shoulders gives the upper body an unusual angular appearance IMO. Otherwise nice control of light, colouration and composition.

Nice color and idea, but too much is lost in the shadows for me. I would have left the head in the shot.

Like it except for the very sharp upper left portion from the neck to the elbow. Very good work otherwise.

nice pic, I would have liked if the model did not seem so rigid and if the farthest arm could have been more down at her side so as not to make that harsh shadow on her back... great tasteful nude, and excellent use of light and shadow

One day, I'll be able to do photos like yours. I like the use of light and shadow. How did you achieve that color?

Very nice photo. Perfect curves. I have nothing else to say for this one ;)

The shadow left by the arm makes her back look "weird". Nevertheless, great lighting and really nice curves.

The lighting is good and exposure well executed. The pose the model is in looks too exagerated - the back seems overly arched to where it doesnt look comfortable. The left arm is back a bit too far in my opinion.

There are 2 things I would have done differently with this photo - First, I don't think that the centered composition works very well, it may have been a better photograph if it were not centered. Secondly, the disappearing hand, in particular, seems awkward to me. Overall though, well done!

the missing head is a bit disconcerting and the stance is so straight she looks like a chicken(with its head cut off actually). not to be mean just that people usually want to know why a photo gets lower votes. technically its perfect though so 6 from me

Very nice. Even though there is another one of this kind in challenge, this one is technically superior. Hope this does well for you.8.
