I really love the sun streaming down in this shot.

definately a 10

I like the sun rays, but would try for less reflection off the water.

Very nice scenic shot. I particularly like the rays of sun showing through the atmosphere.

Great shot! Good choice in how much of the sun to show. The reflection on the water is much better than showing more of the sun itself.

Sun rays are usually thought badly, but I like them here. Nice shot. Is that an owl on the light stand at the end of the dock? 7 Swash

Nice shot but the dock is too close to center-of-frame for my taste. Good lighting/exposure though. 5-ClubJuggle

very nice!

your horizon is sloping a little bit ot the left, and i think a less central placement of the pier and bench (probably bottom left or right) to follow the rule of thirds would've created a little more interest, too. i like the sunbeams, they are great. -- gr8photos (4)

pretty scene...i wonder if it would look better a bit darker though?
07/18/2002 09:04:00 AM
Composition is too central - lower the platform to the one-third of the image.

you got peaceful down pat

:)

good use of thirds.

I'd lake to vacation here!
07/17/2002 04:38:00 AM
more of the sun would be nice.

The rule of thirds would have really worked for this image to make it a more powerful image. I love the lighting Ronin - 7

nice capture....I like the sun flare but i think it would help if you used the rule of thirds instead of centering it
07/16/2002 08:59:00 PM
a warmer color tone would change the mood. Image appears cold

Interesting photo.. the sun is a bit bright when you are shooting directly into it :) I think this shot would have much more impact if the dock was not located bullseye center in the image... see 'rule of thirds' for a possible improvement in this image :) I know that rules are not really rules, but they are here for a reason. They offer guidelines that are often helpful. IMHO, the rule of thirds would be very helpful here :) = 6 - jmsetzler

nice place for a psytrance party

Dawson: "Joey, do you think we'll ever get off this creek?"
Joey: "I'm not sure.. hey you want to watch 90210, Donna and David are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.. " ;)

Sorry it reminded me of a show, and its late (i get odd when its late).. I love the shot. It's something out of a tv show.. so to me it seems pretty professional looking. It's soft and the glisten on the water is great. Good job - 8!

Good shot... it does feel peaceful... I would try moving the float/bench out of the direct center of the picture though
07/15/2002 05:17:00 PM
I wish I was there right now, very good use of natural light !
07/15/2002 04:42:00 PM
Beautiful! Another great shot of the sun in this challenge. I can't seem to photograph anywhere near it. The reflection, the rays, the dark trees in the back all add to a great shot!

What a wonderful looking place of _calm_!! Keep this place a secret. Your photo is nice also, but a bit OOF and the sun a bit too over exposed on the water. I think a tripod would of helped you here and UV lens. Over all I like this very much and the composition. Kee

unless that's a storm coming. Nice shot.
07/15/2002 02:07:00 PM
Nice pic of a peacful place, the light at the top throughs it of a bit.
07/15/2002 02:05:00 PM
I really like the sun rays coming out of the clouds. A pity the focus is off.
07/15/2002 01:47:00 PM
I like the effect of the sun on the water, but the flare reduced the sharpness of the dock. This kind of photo needs critical sharpness all over.
07/15/2002 12:19:00 PM
nice... maybe a bit bright...
07/15/2002 11:17:00 AM
wish that was my front yard
