A reshoot of my wildlife challenge enty called "Baby Deer". Many suggested to tone down the green. Shot in RAW in very dim conditions. Near sun down. Exposure, saturation and WB adjusted in RSE6 then converted. In PSCS, cropped, resized, green desaturated slightly, some skin flaws cloned and heeled out, USM & SFW.

Just cruisin' through my favs tonight, looked up the original "baby deer" and found definite enrichment in this image. I didn't enter or vote on this challenge (although have many to improve on :), I couldn't imagine voting and trying to look up originals (as only a few might be recognizable anyway) and give credit for images that were truly better. I love your work and this shot definitely shows that you thought about what would make it outstanding.

Excellent capture. I like how the deer is in its natural habitat.

Compositionally, the placement within the frame makes the head a strong focal point. It does seem a bit "straight on" though, and while I understand deer are not the most obliging models, if you could have grabbed one where he was looking at you, or was angled more towards you, it may have given the composition a bit more "dynamicism" and interest.

Technically, you did well at capturing this near sundown. Even with the higher ISO, you do not seem to hvae a lot of visible noise in the picture. I like how some of the branches and limbs are blurry/out of focus. This helps give the picture some depth and dimension. Desaturating the green was a wise move, I think, otherwise, it had the potential to totally overwhelm the reds of the deer. It could possibly stand a bit more brightness or contrast, but I am on my work monitor and would hesitate to make that a "gospel statement," because sometimes this monitor can be a bit dark.

Good work.

Oh so pretty. Maybe a bit more contrast to make this one pop.

Wow, how did you get the deer to pose TWICE !? (Just kidding) looks like saturation (color) could be bumped up a bit, otherwise, nice sharp picture...5.6.......

Very sweet. I'd like to see a curves/ levels adjustment to really enhance the overall tonality. Love the glint in his eye.
