Nice and sharp, good detail, left hand side is abit dark maybe.

Unexpectedly fantastic subject for "texture!"

that looks a lot like Tim's dartboard :) I think this image could use a little more light behind the dart.. the texture is good and I like the way the lines lead me to the bullseye... good work :) = 7 - jmsetzler

This is a very interesting demonstration of texture. I find the nicks in the metal rods draw my eyes around the photograph. The focus is spot on from the center to the right of the photograph, but just a little soft on the left side. The exposure is good, however the lighting is a bit harsh. If your camera has a provision for an external flash, using one bounced off a ceiling or other large white object can help eliminate shadows. If you have a camera that only has a built-in flash, you can try putting a few layers of tissue or a hankercheif over the flash to diffuse the light a bit. *7* -balynch

Great idea for a good picture...

not a bad effort. the photo is sharp, shows the texture of both the dart and the board nicely, and the color is good and rich. that said, the lighting is uneven and somewhat dim. as a result, the large black void behind the dart is distracting to me. also, i would like to have seen more of the dart. I espcially like that you can see the nicks on the "spokes" making (at least) four different textures.

wow, there certainly have been quite a few misses, but that adds to the texture of the metal dividers. good idea. a little too dark on the right and i think i would have placed the bullseye a little further to the left, more along the rule of thirds. but good entry for this challenge nevertheless. -- gr8photos (6)

Total Score6

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

Not sure what this is but it holds my interest. Like the red/green color contrast and also the different brass? shape at the right.

colorful, good textures, clear. It's a popular pastime so it should score well.
