Oddly, this boot, and many others, have been stuck on posts on a nearby ranch.

PP: Used the channel mixer to desaturate, mostly green and red channels. I fiddled with levels a lot to get the right feel and did some burning on the lighter hills in the foreground--actually they're piles of gravel. The wife said I should add some yellow, so I did. I like it.

I anticipate comments about noise, but I like it there, so I left it in.

nice work! lighting and tones are just right for this topic and the boot adds interest in a desolate composition

Sanitized arty desolation. I say this after seeing a couple - and there are very, very few photos in this challenge which either depict or evoke sights or feelings of desolation. A chained dog in a bad way, a girl pining for a dead mother - these are real heart-rending images of desolation which evoke feeling. So you can understand why I say your image is sanitized. But it is still an excellent photo very pleasing to look at. 8.

This is a gorgeous shot. That barbed wire is a perfect frame for a desolate landscape. Can't imagine why the boot is there, other than to add some interest (and it does add interest :-) I really love the b&w conversion and treatment you've done.

I usually hate long titles, but that cracks me up GREAT composition and off centering. This is wonderful. Thanks for the chuckle and visual eye candy, pardner.
