Galleries: Candid, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Jun 19, 2006

This young lady's name is Coco, she was working at the AMA trailer selling merchandise to the fans. I asked her if it was okay to take some candid shots of her, she said "sure!" I walked away then came back about 5 minutes later snapped about 10 shots and told her thank you. She seemed very flattered and I think this shot turned out very nice. Hope it does well in this challenge.

Beautiful young lady. Love the cropping, tack-sharp focus on the eyes and bokeh in the background.

This is a very nicely done shot.
Everything about it is natural, easy and pleasant.
Add some uplifting/happy music, and the feel good quality shines.

Loved this one, Steve. I gave it an 8. Everything is so good that I thought it was a set-up shot. Even more impressive, considering it's a candid. Great eye!

I wonder why this one didn't place higher. I love it. It's sharp, has nice colors and bokeh and the subject is a beatiful woman that is framed nicely by her hair. Maybe she's to centered but that didn't irritate me. Maybe it's because it was a candid but that is a positive thing to me. Congrats on your 26th place.

Wow, i did not see this photo, which is a real shame because to be honest i would have given it the blue if i could of.
I think this is exactly why candid photography is the best kind.
This is the best photo i've seen in a long time. I love it.
I'm going to get specific because it would take too long.
The crop, the lighting, the pose, the model, everything is perfect.
Well done mate.

Thank you John, that truly means a lot to me. I can't thank you enough for getting the photography spark lit in me again. This is one of those shots that just works on so many levels, but I have to give credit to the lens, it had a wonderful FIRST owner that trained it how to capture these kind of images! ;)

edit to also say:

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments and praise, I really appreciate it!

Not that I want to agree with JR but this truly was one of, if not the best shot you have entered to date. Well done.

Busy bokeh... But somehow it seems to work for me. I like the simplicity of the main subject's pose.

Very nice, I'm not sure whether to call this a candid or a portrait. It seems to have strong elements of both. The model looks very familiar, but I can't seem to recall who the photographer might be. At any rate, excellent photograph!

The subject's eyes are to centered in the frame. While this isn't a "Rule of Thirds" challenge, it is almost always a good idea to use that rule in all submissions.

This is nice. Good choice of location to get some nice colorful bokeh working in the background. The expression on her face is fun to look at. Good capture. Best of luck in the challenge.

Meets challenge very well: "... take a photograph whose subject is enhanced by the bokeh of the background." - good modelling ...

Such a beautiful image. I really like it. The smile adds a little extra but the focus is where it needs to be and the framing of this shot is perfect. Job well done. 10

Whoa. Now there's a DPC image if I ever saw one. ;) Great color, tack sharp and a unique composition. Best I've seen so far. Good luck!
