Challenge: 30 Seconds or More (Basic Editing III*)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Harwich Port, MA, USA
Date: Jun 19, 2006
Aperture: f/22
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30 sec
Date Uploaded: Jun 19, 2006

Shot in RAW, actually underexposed more than a stop. This was well after sunset, right at twilight. Monkeyed with the white balance and color shifting plus the exposure, contrast, luminance range, in RAW.

Took it to PS, used curves & levels, selective color, and hue/saturation. Amazingly, no neat image :-). Resized, USM, border, save for web.

Nice color range and well preserved. The composition is good - love the swaying grasses in the foreground...balancecs out the sharper lines in the distance. Well done with the lines of the clouds seem to be in synch with the lines of the water. Well done!

Great shot... I had this one pegged as yours until I saw Rikki's, then I got confused! Love the colors in this one and the almost abstract feel with the movement in the foreground. Nicely done!

This rises way above all the run-of-the-mill shots of "misty" water because of the incorporation of the foreground grasses/rushes ... presented here as a recognisable but irreconcilable blend of movement and location. It's the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle applied to vegetation! So you have used the long exposure to actually say something, rather than just to effect a tedious photographic trick. Bravo! Plus it's a rather lovely landscape. 9.

Nice colors. Wish you had angled up a bit to crop a little of the fore ground.

i like the colors, but I think the grass could have been taken out of the front part of the picture.

good colors, but the foreground is too blurry and distracting. shooting from over the moving reeds would have made for a more appealing shot. .5.

The out of focus (or motion blurred) brush in the foreground is distracting, mainly because it take up a lot of space in the frame. A different position would minimise or get rid of them. Otherwise a great shot. I really like the reflection of the sky in the water.

the blurred foreground really distracts from the beauty of the rest of the shot. it must have been windy. may have been better off to hold down those weeds while the shutter was open.

love the color, but don't like the noise (maybe a bit over saturated?)

Looks a bit like Bear stuff.
Nice flow in the composition and I like the colors.

The low country - wonderful. I like the ghosting of the reeds and grasses up front and the colors of the clouds.

Wow to the colors in this photo. without them it would have not been nearly as interesting

hey Bear...i like this better than your ribbon winner, probably because of it's softer feel with the rustling reeds and more muted tones. Unfortunately, my liking could spell trouble for you in the voting...i hope not.

What beautiful scenery! Would have been perfect if the plants in the front were in focus, but I guess they were swaying in the wind...

I think I can see bear prints ;>)

This certainly makes a difference with this type of scene, to have the grass in the foreground tossed about by the wind for thirty seconds. Nice and peaceful.

I have a feeling this is not Roberts shot (Bear Music) but very similar. His shots normally have better image quality, the sky in particular is a bit close to blowing out the red channel in spots and seems almost oversaturated (well for my taste anyway). I really do like the composition though, nice job on that and in that regard it´s as good as Robert´s work, just need slightly better image quality and a skiff and your all set :)

Great colors. The post processing is really surreal. The grass is fuzzy but that's what makes it surreal. One of my faves and into my faves.
