This is my first entry to any DPC challenge.
I'm not very satisfied with this one... I would have liked the cat to look at the bird but on the pictures where it happened the bird was too blurry or the cat was not blurry enough.
This one is a compromise...
That bird was suffering from insolation so we brought her home and gave her some water. Our cat didn't really pay attention to her.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
A lot of people pointed out the "out of focus" on the bird's head. Yeah, that's a pity :(
I didn't take enough time to correctly set my camera when I took the pictures, and I had to do the focus manually because I was too close to the bird. Maybe I should have chosen a smaller aperture and try to calm down and take my time ;-)
Well, better luck next time!

This is a pretty great moment, I would have liked if the birds face was in focus as well.

cool shot

DOF semes off here. the head is blurred, but the body is not. maybe too shallow of an aperture on this one. maybe a little deeper and the feet and face could have been in focus. great job of blurring the background and making the eye figure out the "cat" back there. very nice imagination here. 6 :)

Nice... wish dof were deeper for the bird.

Have to say it is funny in a rather cruel way. Good shallow depth of field, but not really bokeh in my view.

Awesome idea....is that a person holding the cat...oh well...it doesn't matter as it took me a while to work it out (if I am right) which means the initial reaction is the intended one. And that works for me. 8.

Nice take on this challenge. So, did the birdie make it out alive?

Good job.

clever concept and the moment is captured. pity that the focal point is not at the bird's eye.

so close ......unfortunately the birds eye/head is out of focus which is the most important part of this shot

Totally love the "story" here. Would have been awesome if the bird's head was not OOF.

The colortone, are merging & make it hard to focus on one thing... re the differant subject matters, so makes it appear to busy...

What a great way to create a sense of foreboding! Well composed and interesting. Wish the birds eye was in focus. Still quite nice.

Almost so subtle I missed it. Sparrow needs a little sharper focus on the head area. Excellent idea though. Not enough time for a reshoot, I imagine! ;-)

Poor bird. What our animals have to go through for us to get a good picture. :)

This certainly tells a story. I wish it were in a natural setting, but that'd be asking too much.

Meets challenge well: "... take a photograph whose subject is enhanced by the bokeh of the background.". Enhanced, oh yeah! Even same colour scheme for both prey and predator. Difficult picture, but sharper bird would have made it even better.
