Taken in the interval of one of the preliminaries of the Leeds Piano Competition... I had despaired of finding any insects.

I still say you should work for Pentax. Dang, man. Or change your name to OptioMan and have the camera in the Altoids tin for the logo on your cape.

I'll have to see what team Optio S (me) can do for the macro challenge now... ;-)

Top work Bob. Must say I approve of your technique and approach as described in your notes - though i think if you were, say, holding a gin and tonic in the other hand rather than a phone it would improve the shot :-) Congratulations (from someone who spent hours slaving over a shot ...)

If I strained to find one thing to improve on with this incredibly crisp and gorgeous image, I'd (humbly) ask to consider the minimal hairline black applied to all borderless images here by default. I do not believe, anything at all could make this exceptional image more than it is.

Interesting. The 'flat' effect on the central areas of the flower petals looks like soft focus but I think you've used Neat Image or a similar tool to remove a lot of the noise. If so - it's removed some of the detail too. There's a also a fringe around the petals which suggests a bit too much sharpening. Having said that, I quite like the effect, even though it looks a bit unnatural.

The DOF in this shot is spectacular. I love how the bee and the flower are nice and crisp, and the other stuff is perfectly blurred. One of my favorites this challenge.

Really nice...the yellow is so rich. Some smoothing on the leaves looks a bit out of place. Still this is good, very good. Congrats.
