I have a nagging suspicion that this challenge calls for something of a more studio-cooked nature, and that I might thus have gotten this one wrong...
Well.
Nothing ventured - nothing gained.

I was driving home on the evening of the 19th when I noticed that one of my neighbouring farms had a bit of a fire burning.
I jumped out, camera in hand, and ran over to one of the people who was helping to put it out, and asked if he would mind if I take a few photos.
Either he didn't hear me or...
Anyway, not to be perturbed [the big "press" logo on the rear of my camera jacket makes up for my lack of finesse], I went about the property and found this wooden wendy hut on fire.
If the truth be known, I've been waiting all winter for a decent fire photo, and have hundreds of out-takes of smaller, more boring ones.

Then, back at home, I took the RAW image and processed it in Adobe Lightroom. [I'll be real happy when Adobe gets the program to be more processor and RAM friendly]. Cleaned up some of the colour levels, and bumped up the contrast, sharpened a bit and removed noise, then banged it into PS where I did some selective colour adjusting to bring out more of the red smoke, finally ending with a red stroke

I hope nothing bad happened when you captured this picture. That'd be such a shame. But at the same time, this'd be a fantastic picture for the papers!

Burning villages just for a cool shot? Very questionable...;-) Besides, I see yellow and orange flames.

this is why you shouldn't smoke in bed. Smoke alarms save lives people!. This is a beautiful shot! i don't think the boarder was neccasary, my opinion, draws my eye away from the shot. good work!
