We went to fort worth so I asked my mom to please pass by the japanese garden to see if I can get something for zen. there was no tripods allowed so i set this on a log by the lake for a 2-3 second exposure.

I thought it was very relaxing :).. ohh and I do have this in non IR but I felt it lost some "magic".

Thanks everyone for the comments and 3rd place!

Easily best of the IR shots in this challenge. The colors are awesome! Bringing in browns and yellows to the house is brilliant and the soft glow to the whole picture just works really well. Giving you an 8 right now but I plan on coming back to bump. Great work! Last minute bump - I am giving you a 9!

Very nice - I love the smoothness of the water. The white and blues work great together and create a nice calming effect. The brown & yellow stand out nicely with out being over bearing. Definitely one of my favorites ~10

I love the contrast of the warm window glow to the cool water. Wonder if cropping the bottom half of the water below the building reflection would work?
Nice work.

08/04/2006 12:48:35 AM
My general comment would have been - Capturing Zen Garden is not an example of Zen photography. But this one is different and is very well executed. The dash of man-made-structure actually helps in highlighting the natural background. FOr my taste, I'd have liked to keep the subject (Tea house?) a little more smaller compared to background. Infrared treatment is well done. Hope this does well for you.8.

This is good at first glance. but upon further inspection it is slightly out of focus. I light the slow exposed look on the water, but i'm afraid it just dosn't measure up. 6

The IR effect is not very serene. It excites my mind's eye, it does not calm it. The composition here is perfect, the still water is great, the lighting and the trees - everything for a truly harmonious, serene shot exists in this photograph, but the IR trades it all in for eye candy glitz and really sends everything south. Do I like this photo? Yeah, a lot. Do I like it in this challenge? No. 5.
